New seedlings 2025

Today you can show us your new seedlings, new ones you hope will do well.

None for me, just another rainy day photo.

I didn't bring many brand new seedlings to Indiana, although I had some really pretty ones last year. These are the two new ones I brought with me.

Roaring Rapids X Razor Sharp - I thought the intense mulberry petal color was unique among toothed daylilies. And the nice sharp teeth were snow white. Most of my toothy seedlings over the years have had cream and gold teeth.

Born to Reign X (Mayans Dawn X The Ultimate Sacrifice) - I brought this one because of its good plant habit. It was tall, well-branched and had 13 buds in its first year to bloom, even though it was planted in part shade. The edge got better in hotter temps, but I didn't get anymore photos of it.

    Debra, I like
Born to Reign X (Mayans Dawn X The Ultimate Sacrifice), nice color.

I had sever new ones out of Prairie Blue Eye x Flutterbye that I hope do well. Here are my favorite 2 of those:

    South Seas x Primal Scream

Belle Isle Sentry x Kent's Favorite Two

Christopher Russell x Orange Velvet, the one on the left.

Brad - The lavender color on your Prairie Blue Eyes X Flutterbye seedlings is so pretty. I especially like the first one.

Brad, I agree with Debra, that first Flutterbye seedling is great!

Debra, I like both of your seedlings, but especially the first one. Brad, your Prairie Blue Eyes seedlings are both very pretty.

I guess I need to define 'new seedlings'. These are ones that are still in the seedling beds. They have not yet been culled and moved to a select bed. I don't know the stats since we don't take stats until we move them.

This is one of Bob's fulva seedlings. It is a first year flower. It is (F. K. X Empire of Dawn and Dusk) X (Small World Fire in the Hole X Stoke the Fire).

This seedling is probably a first or second year bloomer. It is Bucky Beaver X Samsational.

This is probably Deadliest Catch X (Sonoran Desert Rose X Wandering Werribee). I hope it gets over its splotchiness.

This is Deadliest Catch X Deliquent Doll. I wanted to get it moved last season, but we ran out of time.

This is Fox Lake Ziconic X (Weasel Teeth X Wolverine X On Your Knees You Will Find Him)). It got the big eye from the pod parent.

This is a first year bloom. It is Gopher Stripes X Panning for Gold. This came from purchased seed.

Here is another I meant to move last season. It is Hey Soul Sister X Snidely Whiplash.

I am not sure about the parentage of this one. It is either Last Man Standing X Pastor Z or Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding X Terrorsaur. I suspect it's the latter.

I don't think this one is introduction worthy, but it is interesting because it is one of the first bloomers in the garden. It is Lava Flow X (Philistine Champion X Small World Fire in the Hole).

I like the intense colors of Pineapple Bites X Ashwood Inferno.

    More to come . . .

    Here are the diploids.

    Galaxy Explosion X Pixie Dragon

We have gotten many stippled small diploids from crossing yellows with red. This is Itsy Bitsy Spider X O Positive.

    Out of Balance X Odell

Sioux Hall X A Little Crabby

Both of these seedlings are from the same parents, Sioux Hall X Perry and His Harem, a cross between a 3.5 inch flower with a 7 inch flower. Some of the seedlings are small and some large.

This flower was small but looks more like Perry and His Harem.

This sibling is large and looks more like Sioux Hall.

This seedling is what we call an 'aisle baby'. It was found growing in the aisle in front of Green Arrow. We believe it is a seedling from Galaxy Explosion, which is down the row a bit.

    That's all of the diploids.

You have some real beauties Nancy! Hey Soul Sister X Snidely Whiplash. is my favorite. A beautiful dark. I really like Snidely in the first place and this is a great child of it. I too like the intense color of Pineapple Bites X Ashwood Inferno. I really like the eye and edge of Bucklebury Ferry X Small World Fire in the Hole. And Ruffled Strawberry Parfait X Alan Lane Agin is such a great color and design, looks so delicate in the good sense of the word.

PS what is your daylily web site?

Nan - All the Raggedy Man kids look good to me, and there are many other nice ones, including Bob's Fulva seedling. The Deadliest Catch X Delinquent Doll is a standout too!
