Dining Room Table selection

Hi!

Our dining room is 16'8" long x 15'2" wide.

I would like to get an extendable table that can accomodate 10 people when extended. I am currently looking at these options and wondering if anyone has experience with them?

The tables are all beautiful.

Given your large room, have you considered a wider rectangular table that can seat two on each end? More conducive to good conversation for a group of 10.

Is there going to be a sideboard or other furniture along the two long walls of the dining room?

Yes there will be a small sideboard on one side. I can fit a 48” in between the two windows.
The other side has openings to the butlers pantry (hate that term lol) and also a large opening to the hall to the kitchen.

I know they are all relatively inexpensive for a dining table so I’m wondering about quality? If anyone has experience with any of them?

You basically want at least 48" unobstructed inches all around the table so people can walk behind people who are seated. Many dining rooms have less, and it's okay. But it seems like 40" odd for a table and 48" on each side still leaves you with another 36" for furniture against the wall. So I would go with one of the wider tables. I like the look of the Theodore Alexander but it's a little narrow.

I don't really like boat shaped tables for dining. For one you can't really get a table cloth to sit right.

I know it's out of fashion but I have had table pads for my dining tables so for sit down dinners, I use table pads and table cloths and then I don't have to worry about using trivets and coasters and such so much because the table is protected. Plus I like a "quieter" table. One of my favorite old-school restaurants changed hands and they cook a lot of the same dishes and have nailed that, but they got rid of the old padded tables and got granite topped tables and it's not the same experience at all. We eat in plenty of louder, non-table cloth places too, but they are different sorts of things.

I have a Theodore Alexander round table used in my eat-in kitchen for the last 10 years and it has performed amazingly well. The first 6 years saw daily family meals with kids and also used for homework/projects ... it took me hours to remove the hardened whiteout one kid splattered, but it did come out! I paid more for mine, even as a floor model, so hard to say what the quality/durability is of a TA product purchased today.
