Unregistered seedlings you grow 2025

If you have any unregistered or noid daylilies you grow now is the time to share.

I grow this vigorous Goldner seedling.

I also have seedlings Debra shared with me.

This is Chance Encounter X Never Been Kissed, it likes my garden.

SC Francis Busby X Blazing Cannons. it has been a bit slow but showed some beautiful blooms last season.

Robes for the Queen X Black Falcon Ritual shows more white on the edge most times but I just liked the shape of this bloom.

“Leonard” ……..Debra sent him last spring and I got blooms a few months later! I hope I get the cross right……Alan Agin X cosmic Sensation X Skin of My Teeth

I have two more I hope to see bloom this season.

Sherry, I like the Goldner seedling and Robes for the Queen X Black Falcon Ritual.

    VERACITY, my second seedling ever

    Quasi-Quasar my third seedling

Smoky Mt. Autumn x Jolyene Nichole, perhaps my favorite but it never has more than 6 buds and has not increased at all over about 5 year.

Indian Giver x First Light-an unregestered seedling. Beautiful but only 7 or 8 buds.

another Smoky x Jolyene also not enough buds but it does increase.

Brad , the first Smoky Mtn seedling is lovely. I hope it improves for you this season. It’s so disappointing when the bud counts are low.

Sherry - "Leonard" looks good for you, I didn't bring any of it with me, but I want to get some back from Kay, who has been growing it for two or three years now. You did get the cross right. It was from the seedling Alan Lane Agin X Cosmic Sensation crossed with Skin of My Teeth. The other seedlings I sent you look pretty in those photos!

Brad - I can see why you keep that first Smokey Mt. Autumn seedling despite the lack of buds and slow multiplying. It is so pretty!

I've posted most of my seedlings on the alphabet threads. But here are a few I haven't shown this year.

Razor Sharp X Spacecoast Night Vision - One rainy year I got bud counts as high as 19 and 23, but most years it gets 12-13. A semi-evergreen, It multiplies well and usually rebloomed in Nashville. Scapes are 28 inches with three-way branching. I didn't get a photo last year. This pic is from 2023.

    This photo is from 2022

I brought this seeding with me. It's (Chartered Course X Unknown) X Pink Aloha. Three years ago it had 22-26 buds per scape and four-way branching. The past two years of grubs, drought, and bad winters, it had shorter scapes, three-way branching and bud counts of 13-14. It's either dormant, or semi-evergreen with lots of dormancy, and it multiplies very well. Scapes are 24-26 inches.

Red Venom x Dancing Flamingo - This dormant red seedling with first blooms as large as 8 inches came with me. Three years ago, it had a high bud count of 18. Other years, it's had a range of 12-15. The problem was always such a large flower on shorter scapes. Most years scapes were only 24 inches tall. One year I had one 26-inch scapes, and last year the clump had one 28-inch scape. I think the height problem could have been grubs, but I don't know.

Here's another photo of "Big Red" that has a rounder, flatter look.

American Doll X Bubblegum Queen has intense color, very round form, and a nice edge. So far it hasn't had many buds (6-8) and multiplies slower than most other BQ kids, but it was planted in the middle of the seedling beds and surrounded by much taller seedlings. I'm hoping it will take off with better sun exposure here. I really love the flower. Scapes are 24-26 inches. The bloom is 6 inches.

Here are a few more I brought that I don't think I posted on the ABC threads:

Confessions of a Hemaholic X Entwined in the Vine

    English Lavender X Seedling

No Boys Allowed X Entwined in the Vine

I Remember You X Kindred Jewel

The Ultimate Sacrifice X Red Edition

    Seedling X Royal Invitation

Here are some seedlings I didn't take, but friends are growing them.

Seedling "Nadine" went to a friend who liked bright colors. Lovely blooms, but I never got more than 12 buds on it.

Nancy in KY took several seedlings when she helped me dig this summer. These will be growing in her garden:

Dancing Flamingo X Neon Flamingo - Luscious tropical color with 12-15 buds. It had a tendency to canoe, so I did not take it.

Sweet Prairie Wind X The Ultimate Sacrifice - Pretty face and unusual coloring, but never had more than 10-12 buds.

Jurassic Pink X Bubblegum Queen - another one that only got 12-13 buds

Carolina Cool Down X Blazing Saddles Kid

Oh, there are some pretty blooms posted here. Sherry, I like Leonard. Dave, I like Quasi-Quasar. Debra, I like Red Venom X Dancing Flamingo and American Doll X Bubblegum Queen.

All the seedlings I will post are from other hybridizers.

Here is Debra's Abilene Lillian X Ruby Lipstick. I love the big eye and edge on this one.

I don't know the parentage on this seedling from Chris Wilhoite in Indianapolis. He called it 'Aspens in Autumn'. I doubt that it will be registered.\

This is the seedling known as 'Kaskel's Best Edge'. It has been a very important breeder in chicken fat edges.

This is a seedling from Olallie sporting dark scapes. It is an early bloomer but doesn't have many buds.

These last two were purchased from Sandy and Mike Holmes. Once they clear the seedling beds of keepers, they sell the leftovers to visitors. We bought four the day we visited. We don't know the parentage on these--only they are all tets.

We liked the strange color on this one.

I really like this one. It is quite tall.

    Here are our Noids.

When we are sent the wrong daylily and can't figure out the right identity, we put the word 'faux' or false in front of the name of what we ordered. We ordered Bass Gibson. We did get Bass Gibson, but this flower was mixed in with it. So this is Faux Bass Gibson. Bob loves this.

This is Faux Happy Medium. It was sent as a bonus. This is really a nice plant. It blooms on the early side and is quite tall. It will leave the garden, however, because we have too many others that are similar.

This is Faux Ultimate Design. We contacted the seller and he replaced i but couldn't identify this from a photo.

We bought this early in our collecting career. The seller thought its name was Dark Red Georgia. There is no registered daylily with that name. Somebody on this forum thought it might be Opera Elegance. It took me awhile, but I did track down a plant of Opera Elegance to by. When it blooms, we can compare the two. Whatever its name, it is staying here. It is a very nice daylily.

    That's all for me.

Here are some seedlings I meant to move with me, but I ran out of time and space. I'll remember them fondly.

    Lace Sampler X Victorian Lace

    Integrated Logistics X Sugar Magnolia

    Aztec Headdress X Banded Broadbill

Gypsy Cats kid X (Razor Sharp X SC Night Vision)

Blue Over You X All Things to All Men

SC Francis Busby X seedling - I had this one dug and sitting on my back steps, but it disappeared. I think a helper who was potting daylilies either potted the single fan up with something else, or gave it away to another helper.

(Palace Garden Beauty X Karelia) X Magnificent Rainbow

Nancy, you also have some beauties. Faux Bass Gibson and Faux Ultimate Design are my favorites.
