What do you mean by ”rocks all around?” You mean gravel-sized rocks?

If you have anybody under age 18 using the pool, I would think that rocks + water = overwhelming temptation.

Pavers would look nice, be easy to maintain and help keep your pool clean. You can then add potted plants, chairs, tables etc.

Yes I was thinking pavers for a walkway from the gate. Small rocks that’s easy on the feet around the pavers. Then add plants later on for some greenery.

Hi Joy, from my own experience, I would be wary of gravel or “ small rocks” , somehow ours end up in our pool where they plug up the creepy crawly vacuum.
Also, we installed some artificial turf in a pattern interspersed with our pavers, I live in south Florida and the turf gets scorchingly hot in the summer. I would get a sample and leave it in some spots around the pool to see how it feels at different times of day in your yard.
Your climate and zone would help people with specific pool friendly suggestions.
