Need help with kitchen cabinet color

8 months ago

Hi,

Need help with kitchen cabinet colors!

We want to change brown cabinet color to whitish greyish. Kitchen cabinets are in north corner of house with cabinets on east and west. Kitchen cabinets have less natural light.

Fixed elements- Counter top is white quartz, Splash back is grey with blue, Blue island (willing to change to muted blue or hale navy) , Walls are BM classic gray (willing to change if needed). Trims, doors and ceiling is SW pure white.

For cabinets tried- BM paleoak, BM windsbreath, BM balboa mist, SW egret white, SW crushed ice, SW drift of mist and SW city loft.

Down to SW drift of mist and SW city loft. which one is better? Anything I need to worry about these colors. Will any of these give contrast to white counter top more or less?

Leaning towards drift of mist because of splashback and just little more gray

that might go well with white countertop. Will drift of mist be too dark?

But like city of loft as well. Confused!

Please help. Thank you!

In pictures with two colors - left is drift of mist and right is city of loft

In pictures with three colors - left is crushed ice, middle is drift of mist and right is city loft

    Are you in the US, Canada, Australia or elsewhere? Some color combinations are preferred in some areas, not in others.

    Your floors are the most important factor here. You already can see the BM classic grey on your walls goes really well with your floors, counters, trim, and even with the blue of your island. I would paint the cabinets BM classic grey.

    I don't absolutely love it with your backsplash, but I think it will look fine with your backsplash.

    Paint all lowers hale navy . id pause and get used to that / reassess lighting and backsplash / then pick a slightly warmer cabinet shade in the off whites for uppers.:.floor is the thing to work with.… navy would be good … factor that the backsplash might get changed later. dont pick a gray tone because of backsplash….look at that floor. kitchen is ripe for a two finishes cabinet approach due to very large size. All gray kitchen in any of those you show would be far worse than brown stained cabs that you have now. cant any of the brown remain? ( cant tell )

    I'd be up for changing the island color.

    Hale navy doesn't seem to show on my screen very accurately. But you'll not be limited to a blue.

    I would be afraid to use thos colors. iI personaly would use a tried and true white with gray undertone that has been used on cabinetry.

    Certain colors stay popular for a reason.

    It’s hard to tell if your colors will clash as colors change when they go on large surfaces and your exposure of the room will also come into play.

    will these whites go with white quartz counter top? I already have trim in SW pure white and ceiling too. I am afraid these whites will stand out as diffreent whites. only white that could be possibly used is Sw pure white which is already on trim and doors? i thought about sw pure white. will it make kitchen look cold?

    @Kendrah

    BM classic gray is first color i thought for cabinets. i will reconsider this. it does not match with tiles that great, but it is beautiful color.

    will it create contrast white countertop?

    what wall color you suggest with BM classic gray cabinets?

    @herbflavor

    dont pick a gray color because of backsplash - That is my confusion. i am trying to match grays in splahback

    Personally I like BM classic gray. Is drift of mist too gray? It seems off white gray.

    Will BM classic gray cabinets look good? walls are already BM classic gray. Can walls and cabinets both be sane color- BM classic gray?

    @Lantern Visual

    Thanks. sometime I worry is it too gray? But BM classic gray (on walls) with Lrv 74 is very close to drift of mist with lrv of 70. So drift of mist cannot be that gray. It looks off white when exposed to sun. yes, grayish in north.

    would you recommend sw pure white cabinets, the same used on doors and trims?
