I don't have photos of my previous house with a good shot of both drapes, but I keep all my samples in a file! Just took them out and took a photo.

The floral/vine pattern was an expensive embroidered linen from Mulberry and the stripped pattern was a much cheaper linen/rayon from Duralee. The colors are a perfect match, so the mix of patterns work.

The camera dulls the colors, specially the background in the floral/vine, but hopefully it gives you some ideas.

I actually have 2 pillows in this Schumacher fabric too! lol Which also coordinate with different Schumacher drapes that won't work in my new house, as my ceilings are much higher.

Love the colors of your drapery fabric! I think chispa’s examples show how someone with a great eye for design can put things together. (For example, I wouldn’t have thought of the orange patterned pillow next to the Dragon patterned pillow in her last picture, but I love how they look together.) if you find some things that you think my coordinate, you could post pictures on this thread and ask for thoughts.

Thank you both for your thoughts! Chispa, I loved the drapes in the bedroom pic you posted. I google searched, and found these 2 fabrics, for which I’ve ordered samples

The first is embroidered, which i think would be lovely. I need 44 yards for drapes for the living room, so my strong preference would be to stay under $100/yard. That leaves the coordinating solid Schumacher out!

Funnily enough, i also have 2 pillows in the orange in storage. I also used the indigo colorway of the same fabric to recover my grandmother’s dining chairs. They’re beautiful, and I’ll use them in the dining space in the new house.

i LOVE an eclectic mix of fabrics, and the dragon has all my favorite colors. It’s been my favorite fabric for at least 15 years, and I’ve used it in a couple if previous houses. Typically, I like a patterned drape, solid furniture, and a wide, varied mix on pillows and accents. If anyone likes to look at fabrics for fun, I’d surely love the additional eyes!

I’ve loved Chiang Mai Dragon for years too! And it’s refreshing to see a dilemma from someone who loves pattern. I also recognize Schumacher’s Betwixt on the pillow and chair above. I used that pattern for a client’s pillows to coordinate with a chintz on London shades.

I do love pattern and color. We currently live in a coastal area, and it seems every house is white and beige. It’s beautiful, but not my vibe. our last couple of full time houses have been filled with color, which brings me joy.

We’re building a very traditional New Orleans style bracket house. I’m confident in my finish selections, as we’ve done this many times and i know what I like. I’ve just been stumped this time in finding a jumping off point for interiors, and deciding how open is too open to have different window treatments. And deciding if continuing colors is enough of a tie in, without being too matchy. I know its a privledged position, but still. Ugh.

I love your aesthetic and don't think you need anyone's approval to mix colors and patterns. You seem to be doing just fine on your own! My favorite "style" is the English country house look, with a lot of colors and patterns, some of which don't really seem to go together. But the whole look is pleasing. Check out the rooms in House and Garden UK for lots of examples of this type of decorating.
