Northland Rosarium

I just want to share the 3 nice own root roses I just recieved from Northland Rosarium. Colette, Cinderella Fairytale, & Red Eden. I dont know why people aren't talking about them more! They were in transit from WA to FL for at least 5 days and they still look really great! Soil is still damp. They were packeged well so they wouldn't slide around or be dislodged. Colette even has 2 cute little buds. Several yrs ago, I ordered 2 climbers fom them and they were also very nice. With all the bad vibes floating around on this forum, I just wanted to share some good ones lol.

Sultry, they look awesome! All three of those roses are my kind of roses :) I ordered a rose from Northland a few years ago when I was just starting out and had no idea what I was doing, and I remember the plant they sent was good quality.

Thank you. Which ones did you order before? I had ordered 2 Quicksilvers from them in the past and they caught up with my 2 grafted Quicksilvers in a few yrs. I still have them.

There are roots coming out the bottoms of a few of these so these can easily go in a gallon pot for a while. I usually pot up as they grow and when they are big enough, I put them in the ground due to all the critters we have around here lol. I see some others I might get since Ive had good luck with them thus far.

Sultry, I only ordered one rose from Northland before -- an Earth Angel -- about five years ago. I actually found a photo from when it arrived. What a nice plant they sent! But like I said, I had no idea what I was doing back then and didn't do much research. Northland lists it as growing 3' X 2.5,' but then I learned Earth Angel can actually get much bigger, so I ended up giving it away to someone with outdoor space.

I've only ever ordered one other band -- the Little Grey Pearl that arrived from RVR today -- but I'm so pleased with that one, too. The roots fill the pot. So, I'm kind of intrigued by band roses now, though I realize they are more of a time investment.

Red Eden is on my dream list for when I hopefully have yard someday. It looks gorgeous. I can't wait to see yours when it blooms someday!

It looked great. You are right, Earth Angel gets really big here. I had 3 but a tree fell on one. The 2 remaining are at least 6ft tall. EA is a good bloomer here and stays healthy. I had got a Grafted Red Eden last year from DA but it literally sat there and died back l. It never broke dormancy so I dont know what happened there. I decided to try own root since its a climber.

I like Band Roses as well. I miss the days when Heirloom had bands for around $17 and I would treat myself to 3 or 4 a month lol (different ownership). They always had solid rootballs and took off right away. Many roses don't really need to be sold in gallon size containers imo, the roots catch up just fine so I feel like I'm just paying for dirt, which I already have plenty of lol. For some roses (small or slow growing), I do prefer to have them grafted but own root are just fine for vigorous large growers or climbers.

Those are some nice bands you received, Sultry! Northland Rosarium is great. I received a couple of huge Blanc Double de Coubert from them 2 years ago. I’ve been waiting for some of Kathy Zuzek’s hardy roses to become available again but I think I may have missed them.

I have Cinderella Fairytale coming from them too! We can compare….although mine is probably gonna take forever to grow cause it’s going in a too shady place😬

I agree that Northland is a great vendor. I've put in a request for some roses that weren't on the current year's availability and Andrew not only notified me when they were available he created an order of the ones I wanted.

I highly highly recommend the "Norwegian" roses of Sigrid, Sven, Ole, and Lena. They're considered shrubs but they grown like hybrid musks or polys with nearly constant bloom and compact shapes. Ole and Lena are mostly white, and Sigrid and Sven are a vivid pink. Sigrid in particular is a dense constant blooming bush of pink that really lights up the beds that has mostly hybrid musks/polys in softer colors.

Bottom line is that Northland is a solid and reliable vendor with interesting roses.

Kristine, Your Blue for You is beautiful! That one is also on my wishlist. I didn't realize NR had it yayyyy!

Dave, So great that you were able to find Blanc Double de Coubert from NR! I had to go and look that rose up. It said it has nice hips in the fall. Not many of mine do and I wish more did. I like planting things for birds. My Florentina and Don Juan both got a ton of hips last fall. I was surprised. DJ got one that grew as large as one of those x-tra big marbles. They were right next to each other. Rosette deLizy forms lots of hips here but there are never any seeds in them so I believe she may be sterile.

Oursteelers, Yes, we can compare Cinderellas! That will be fun :) I've wanted that rose forever. I'm so glad I finally got it.

Nippstress, That is awesome that Northland Rosarium went above & beyond for you with ordering! I really hope they get even more varieties for us to order because I like their style and their healthy roses! I agree they are solid 👍 Years ago, Logees had discontinued Indian Night Jasmine (Nycanthes Arbor-trystis) aka Tree of Sorrow, from their catalog. I was having a hard time locating one, so I emailed them and asked if they knew who was still growing it. They said they still had a mother plant and would root one up for me and let me know! Sure enough, they followed through and I was able to get one from them. I still have it. I love them for that!

Judith, Which roses did you get? You have so many interesting roses! I hope you share pics of the ones you ordered.

    I got:

Marie Curie, Stephen Rulo, Chihuly, Flutterbye, Cl. Lady In Red, Cl. Flaming Jun, Cl. Aloha Hawaii . Aloha Hawaii has a bud on it already! I had Flutterbye years ago and loved it. These are all so healthy......excited to get them growing and blooming! I just got a new laptop - not sure how to do photos to Houzz but as soon as I learn, and get some blooms, , I will send photos.

My roses are just now starting to send out a few blooms.........ARE's Always Dreaming is a healthy, pretty little bush with pink flowers - my wonderful old Clair Matin has a bunch of early blooms and one of my favorite climbers, High Flyer, is giving me a couple of blooms. [this is one of my favorite climbers - ALWAYS in bloom - they arent formed, but are a hot pink and can be seen all over the yard, its a strong climber and blooms from spring til frost. I have 3!]

I just purchased "Lady Ashe" and "Leonardo Da Vinci" from Northland Rosarium. This is one of my favorite nurseries to order from as their plants are healthy and they have a great selection of really unique varieties. Would highly recommend this nursery!!

Judi those sound great! I had to look up Flutterbye. I love that name and how is changes colors. It looks like bees would enjoy it. I also had to look up High Flyer Climber. What a pretty color plus a good bloomer too!

Bellarosa, Lady Ashe is on my list! I dont know if its blackspot resistant or not but it sure is pretty!

Josg thanks for the info on the Anne Belovich Collection availability. I must of missed that. I will have to go look for them. :)

I just noticed that they Have Abe Darby in stock. Its listed as Auscot. One of my favorites. I already have a few but if I didnt I woulds get one.

I am interested in getting the Moser House Shed Rose when it becomes available/back in stock. I hear its a house eater lol. I need a few more big roses.

What type of root system? They have Veteran’s Honor. Mine is 20+ yrs. old, declining and needs replacing.

    I think they're all own-root.
