Bkay try Milorganite or Blood Meal the scent might deter them. Also try Cayenne pepper sprinkled on top, this might need to be reapplied after a rain.

BB or pellet gun might be good. I use a .22 short rifle and utilize the squirrels by frying and recycling the tails. Probably not too popular here but it works.

I lined my pots against the house for the winter and covered them with a strip of hardware cloth, held down with rocks.

The squirrels are a real pain. They even ruined a string of solar lights by chewing it apart.
