If you want to paint the wood cabinets but are keeping the other wood ones, then look at soft ivories, pale beiges or taupes. White will be blinding in this open concept house.

I agree something different on the cabinets will help to identify the kitchen and break up the monotone feel. Just be careful what color/shade you use. Get Samplize of the ones in contention so you can move them around and see how they look from every angle.

I would not paint those. save the money from painting for when you can truly update the kitchen by getting rid of the two level tops, glass blocks, outdated cabinet door style, etc. Painting cabinets is not a inexpensive or easy endeavor.

Would think that the cabinets would update rather nicely in a shade of white. The shelving unit in the living room although unique is dated looking. If there is a way to update that would recommend doing that also.

That has to be a Florida floor plan!

I would want to come up with a plan for all the different built-ins (I would want them gone but that’s a me thing)

I do not like the DR cabinet display at all IMO too much display ,the one in the LR is awesome so for me that DR at least the part you have filled with diplay needs to go Then if I am correct you woulf have a nice buffet type cabinet that works with the dining table which does not have to match any other wood color . Then the kitchen is fine until such time as a redo is in the budget since many things are dated in thta space . I love the LR wall that would be the last thing I would touch it brings real interest to the space .
