uppers with wood veneer with solid color elsewhere.... painted? depends on what tone of color / depends on the style of kitchen...so many factors.

first 2 pics.... these veneers can be quite expensive...Used on uppers only as opposed to all the cabinets/ its a way to bring it in . .

If feels pretty out of whack to have color on top and white on bottom. Color is more grounded on the bottom and white is airier on top. Any particular reason why you are looking to have color on top instead?

I am doing a little update on our kitchen. We’re keeping our current cabinets due to financial reasons and I do still like them. Appliances, countertops , sink etc. will be replaced. As you can see this is a very awkward space next to our frig. So I was thinking if I could just change and add to the top cabinets it could maybe work out…The bottom cabinet space is at a weird angle so not sure how to change those. Thanks

We need a further back picture to understand the space. I would replace all the cabinets in the picture (uppers, Lowe’s, angled nightmare) with Ikea. Tall pantry to the right of the fridge, deep cabinet above, drawer base to the right where angled piece is. Maybe in their navy or oak.
