Bathroom Paint accent.

last year
last modified: last year

I'd like to punch up this bathroom with a dark blue paint border around the top of the wall.

Not ON the ceiling, but ending AT the ceiling. Then add stars or some other repeating motif in dark blue ON the ceiling. I cannot find any photos of a solid paint border to see it.

I've searched Pinterest, etc and have had no luck with any photos. The all show the ceiling paint being brought down the wall, not only on the wall. Or the top half of the room is painted darker, not just a foot or so of the room.

Can any of you lovely people help?

We would have to see more photos of the space to determine. What you are describing doesn’t mesh in my mind with that bathroom but maybe I’m not seeing enough. The closet might be the place to do a wallpaper on the ceiling.

I would leave it just like it is. Once you have it all put together, put some nice towels, etc with color in there, and maybe a rug in front of the sink. What you are wanting, looks a bit like the bathroom, is to be used only by a child.

If you want to "punch up" the bathroom use a vinyl wallpaper with patter and/or color.

Thank you for your time and input so far!

This is a photo I grabbed from the builder's page. Our unit is not yet finished. Because of the confined space it is tough to get more views of it. This is the prime/master bathroom, not a child's bath. The previous photo is taken from the doorway of the "toilet closet" - which will have a blue toile paper Bathroom Humor so adding more wallpaper will be a bit much. I'm looking for photos that have a dark border at the top of the wall, but the ceiling is lighter, with a stamped or repeating motif. I've had no luck searching Pinterest or Google.

The cabinets are deep blue and I want to bring some blue up higher. We just realized that there is no where to put a horizontal towel bar for bath towels. We'll have to figure that out later.

I can't figure out how to make a solid color band or change the color. But this is sort of what I want to see.

No. Emulating a Waller border from decades ago? No. Get some art.

If you look at ceilings with sky of stars, you usually find a contrasting border. Here's a photo of a well known hotel sky mural (artist painted). https://www.tripexpert.com/baltimore/hotels/inn-at-the-colonnade-baltimore-a-doubletree-by

Definitely no border, that's really "passé"! Find nice art with the blue you like for the walls.

I would not select a cikir t\so deep that it throws off my skin tone as I am getting made up.

Please, no border. No special ceiling treatment either - both are quite 'yesterday'.

My sister bought a ranch style house mainly for the property - a little acreage, creek and pond for the grandchildren. Someone had gone a little heavy with their personal taste but there was stenciling (well done) in Every Room. The last to be primed, painted, covered was the garden theme in the guest bath. Very distracting and dated.

Invest in some art with blue included if blues are your goal. Splurge on some gorgeous hooks to hang those blue towels you have no place for now....

Just paint the whole ceiling a slightly lighter shade than the cabinets - that will be impactful and not take away from the wallpaper you say you have in the toilet room. Make sure your blues from the paper and the cabinet are well coordinated. As for towel bars is it not too late to have the glass company provide you with a towel bar on the door of the shower? That’s done all the time in tight spaces.

Oh goodness. Do not do a fake or real wallpaper border. These went out of style decades ago. i agree that large bold art in a bold color is the way to go.

Okay. No border. Got it! Adding art is a nice idea, but there is truly NO wall space except above the towel rings. There is an 8 inch bit of wall next to the shower door that's big enough for a hook. I'm thinking that we'll have to live with it for a bit and decide what we want.

Thanks again for all your input!

    Another idea to think about...
