Sitting Area Suggestions

I need some advice on how I should decorate this sitting area. I would like to add either 2 or 4 chairs here if the space allows. I would like to add a rug, some photos and a new light fixture. Keep in mind the desk and taller book case will be removed. Maybe some paint suggestions as well! Thanks in advance!

Please post other pics of walls / rooms opposite this space on all sides. Nothing is designed in isolation. You need to consider what this is connected to. Also, who will use this, when, and to do what? When will four people sit here at the same time?

Is the very large shelving unit staying and if so, what wil you be placing in there?

Yes, 4 comfortable chairs will work in the space. wondering too where this is, off the kitchen? I'd consider using the funky shelving unit as a area divider, butted up to the column on either side, depending on how you'd use the space.

Have you measured the space for an area rug? I'd remove the desk and bookshelf and start laying out a plan. Will you be changing out the ceiling fixture?

So this is a former dining area that you plan to use as a sitting area.

So there's one small bookcase, a desk & two random etageres which are taking up the space you require for lounge chairs.

If you were hoping to create this type of Seating Area you might have the room is you remove the other items.

This is a sitting area, not the dining room. We have old furniture (the taller bookshelf and desk) that will be removed. The only piece of furniture that is staying that is the bigger bookshelf.

It is opposite of the living room, which is also getting new furniture as well. The living room and sitting area are in an open space.

If you really want help or good advice? You need to provide ALL the context.

That means a measured and accurate drawing of the WHOLE open space, all the feet and inches, walls, widows, openings ,passages, and where everything is......including that square post.

You don't buy furnishings without a plan, unless you like guesswork and a take your chances approach. Fuzzy, dim, disjointed pictures won't get you much help, if any. The very helpful community here, pro and gen pop, here will lose interest, and help someone willing to do a bit of "homework"...: )

All the online screen grab suggestions in the world, while lovely? None of them are yours..

I think the light fixture is throwing people off-even though yes you clearly state what you want this room to be. Of course four club chairs can fit. It's all about their scale to the size of the space. Pictures don't let us know what the length and width of a room are, measurements would be very helpful. Any inspiration pics you have would also clue us into your preferences.

Id probably move the tv to this area and dedicate it to that activity and use the room with the fireplace as a nicer sitting area with the windows and fireplace as more pleasant backdrops.

The thing that stands out to me is lack of lighting. Would suggest you install downlights to brighten the space up. Otherwise, it may just wind up being a dark and dreary sitting area that no one wants to sit in.

How do we know what fits with no idea of the size of the space . We can only answer with proper info . Posted here in a comment every measurement marked.
