What do you think?

I loosely tacked up some shiplap on either side of the window. Should I go with wide or short boards? What is your preference? Thank you in advance!

The short boards seem like an old vintage house. The wider boards seem newer and trendier. I personally like the shorter boards. But it is really a matter of preference. Either is fine.

Well, it is not ship lap , but your word "boards" is correct. Go with boards right of window.

Consider replacing the fluted trim around the window as the vertical lines compete with the horizontal shiplap.

Both look fine. My personal preference is the wider boards. However, if you like them both, you may want to consider layout and which gives you the best-sized(full board or close to it) course at the top where wall meets ceiling.

The narrow boards give off a flavor of "we adapted an outside porch and kept the original outside cladding".
