Everything is too big for the space. Is there a designated dining room? If so, maybe you can switch the spaces.

Maybe you could get a small ottoman that would be easy to push out of the way when the toddler is playing. Put a tray on top to turn it into a coffee table so anyone sitting on sofa away from end table doesn’t have to balance their drink. on their lap. Some ottomans have lift tops for storage which would help with stashing some toys away.

I like the ottoman idea. You can add casters to make it easy to move.

If you add the end table, consider a round or oval table so there are no sharp, square corners near the play area.

I did a glass and black metal end table because your TV console looks black but I cannot see anything else you have in the room.

No coffee table or end table. And especially no glass or iron with a small child. There's just no room, unless you replaced the large sectional with a smaller sofa. How do you even open the front door with the sectional practically in front of it? And what is on the other end of the room--to the right of the door?

Consider a nesting end table. This way when the baby is asleep and you have company you can pull them out for snacks.

Forgo for now adding anything new that will just make the area more crowded. I do have to question the door placement. Can the front door be moved to the window in the dining room instead?

Looks like a nice new sofa with a good play area. A sturdy wooden narrow end table with no lamp would be good while the baby is small. The mirror and paintings need to be installed soon where the baby won't pull up on them.

I would suggest one or two small portable tables that you can move around easily, to put a drink or a book or your phone on without putting it on the floor. Maybe like a round tulip type table without any corners.

Please hang the dining room mirror. A child was killed recently when one fell on him.

I got some of these for kids or adults to sit on and or set things down on when I have a larger groups. Lightweight, sturdy, no corners, if it tips over it's not going to hurt anybody

I'd add a large ottoman which can work as a table sometimes. I'd also delete the console and lower the tv. Make it a family lounging space.

Getting the mirror moved asap. Thank you. The couch and console are both new but I guess I could try some of these ideas first and then maybe move the console to the basement if it still feels like too much. I want something there though, maybe something smaller?

You don't need to move the front door. I'd move the large armoire to the other wall in the dining room. Hang the mirror on the wall next to the front door.

Then move the sectional to the basement and replace it with a sofa, perhaps an apartment-sized one, like 78" wide, with narrower arms. In addition to it being too large, the bright white doesn't work with the rug, and with a small child it's going to get dirty real fast. I'd get a tweed-look performance fabric that blends better with the rug and the wall color. Then you'll have room for an ottoman and/or an end table.

A small round or oval coffee table at an angle can work well in tight spaces—just ensure 18" clearance from seating. Glass or light wood can keep the space feeling open. If it's too snug, one stylish end table with a nested ottoman or tray table could be a great flexible option.
