Your picture isn't close up enough to clearly see the hinges.

This is a somewhat industrial look (metal frame, glass inserts) so I don't know that visible hinges are a big deal.

You can always paint the visible portion of the hinges black to blend in with the frames.

I can see the 1/2 moon shape of the hinge but usually in a metal framed door with glass fronts there is no place for the hinges to go without being visible that is the nature of glass . Consealed hinges were what you needed and even then sometimes you see them to a min. I think once the whole space is done the lights are on in those cabinets and nice stuff diplayed the hinges will not be ahuge deal. I think messing with those doors culd be worse than what you have . Hope you held back some money before delivery . it is worth the argument to try to get a deal. I think the hinges look chrome or some metal so whay not use that same metal for the wood cabinet hardware too.I do not often say this but I sure hope the fridge is black glass front .

We need clearer photos of the front and back of the hinges to help.

Thank you all for your quick response! I’ll try to get some better pictures of the glass and maybe the rest of the kitchen if it will load videos. I’ll have to get a better picture of the inside tomorrow. Posting what I have tonight. The concealed hinges is what I thought I was getting but unfortunately it was me just assuming. My lack of knowledge/not asking the right questions has gotten me in a mess.

This is the other view of my kitchen. Obviously still a work in progress. I originally planned on white oak panels for fridge/freezer but I’m still able to choose. I’m open to ideas. The missing panel in the picture will be a hidden pantry.

Yes! I just don’t have them yet. I’m thinking 3 pendants. The one I like is more than I want to spend plus I’m debating on the size. It comes in 18/22”. My island is 130x54. I’m open for suggestions on lighting too. I think I have decision paralysis!

I love the doors you don’t like. I think they are wonderful. In your inspiration photo, it looks like the glass doors are inset and not frameless or overlay. I can kind of see blurry hinges on either side

Why does their brochure show concealed hinges if that’s not what they sell? Or was the order screwed up by the showroom? Why would you ever not use concealed hinges with glass doors…

So your order says you ordered the pic with no hinges, you got a different door/hinge and they won't fix it???? How is that not being addressed? I don't know what it would cost to fight them but I've never heard of a manufacturer who messes up this much and doesn't stand behind the written order. Hopefully you paid with a credit card and can get payment revoked until they satisfy the order.

I agree this does not look good. Can the hinges be painted black so it looks more thoughtful instead of accidental?

Thanks to all of you who say it looks good. I appreciate your kind words but it’s just not what I had envisioned or asked for. I really thought it was common sense NOT to have visible hinges on glass display doors. My cabinet guy ordered the doors for me. He had never used this company before and unfortunately got a salesman that wasn’t very accommodating. The guy brought 2 samples of glass. I picked from the two he brought and I ended up with a totally different glass insert. The salesman said they had special hinges. Of course my cabinet guy/I assumed special hinges meant concealed or hidden hinges but as you can see in the picture they are not. They said they won’t help out cuz my cabinet guy signed off on it. True, he did assuming he was getting what we had asked for. The only way I can get totally concealed hinges is to take down the cabinets/crown molding and start over because they say a concealed hinge has to be built into cabinet with a thicker base to accommodate the concealed hinge. The glass door company will not help with cost at all. They will send me 4 smaller black hinges for another $140 cost to me. If I like them it will cost $560 to have them all changed. We also own a family business and always try to work with our customers to make sure they’re happy but this company won’t work with us at all. The doors had to paid for in full before placing the order. $2800 later I have glass that I didn’t want and large shiny metal hinges. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Bad communication between my cabinet guy/the sales rep. The sales rep will take no responsibility at all. Any way sorry for the long post. I was really hoping someone would have a miracle hinge that would fix my problem. I could take them down and repurpose them later but it’s just such an expensive mistake and I like the pop of black to break up all the white oak. Thanks again for all your ideas and thoughts. I’m toally exhausted with making decisions and dealing with problems with our new house build. A year and half project has turned into 3 years. 😢 Blessed/thankful to be able to build but very frustrated.

Hopefully you can get someone in to redo those hinges. Hire someone yourself. Here is a link to what I feel you need. Thanks Lorraine! Unfortunately that’s the company my cabinet guy ordered from. Their integrated hinges would have been perfect but with all the miscommunication we ended with what we have. They say I have to totally rebuild my cabinets for that hinge to work.

Cindy if you want help finding a new hinge we need good, clear, close up photos of the current hinges. Really this isn’t your problem and I wouldn’t pay the balance until your cabinet guy gets you the correct doors, as you said this is common sense.

Do you know exactly what the cabinet guy signed off on? He should not have assumed anything. I think he should be the one eating the cost.

I’ll get a close up picture of the hinges when I get home this afternoon. I’m pretty sure my cabinet guy would cover the cost if I pushed it but I really don’t want that for him. He’s done a lot of extra things for me/I’ve worked closely with him the past two years. He’s been doing cabinets his whole life and is 76 now. Such a great guy. You aren’t ’throwing it back on him’. It’s his job. Doesn’t matter if he’s 26 or 76- frankly at 76 he should know it’s his problem to solve.

He does and will do whatever we want. I was just hoping to find a solution to the problem without him eating the cost and tearing out all my cabinets on that wall to get a concealed/integrated hinge. He’s truly a gem/their hard to find these days so if I can find a solution that‘s my first choice. This house build has been going on for 3 years so tearing out/starting over with that wall is my last choice. I’ll get close up pictures of the hinges when I get home. Thanks!

@Cindy, I would not be happy with that either. I looked closely at the inspiration pic that you posted, and it appears that they used barrel hinges. If it would be possible for your cabinet maker to combine the doors into bifolds, you could then use black barrel hinges on the two ends and add sliding hardware. Hafele makes Slido hardware for such applications.

Horrible bad design. Why would they even produce a door with this hinge? Ridiculous (I’m almost out of adjectives). If this is a steel door I see no way to retrofit- it’s not like wood where you can fill in the old hinge location with a patch. Also no way to set in a pivot hinge or other concealed hinge.

@Cindy, that is a question that only your cabinet maker can answer. I wouldn't settle, even if he has to remove the cabinets from the wall to modify the boxes and order new doors. It is such a beautiful kitchen and that is a glaring mistake. I am just shocked that your cabinet maker installed this before clearing it with you first. Good luck. Solution (which assumes that a hinge can be attached to an aluminum door with the glass in place).

1. Remove the doors and hinges.
2. To left-hinged doors, attach Blum 73T550A hinges to the right side.
3. To right-hinged doors, attach Blum 73T550A hinges to the left side.
4. Patch the frames' holes left by the removal of the 71B950A hinges.
5. Reattach the doors to the cabinet.

Does anyone else share my view that painting the exposed front edges of the interior sheves might be a good idea?

I don’t think painting the shelves is the right solution. It doesn’t solve the problem and it won’t end up looking like the inspiration photo that Cindy liked which was a metal grid design.

It’s not just the hinges that are preventing these cabinets from mimicking the isnop photo. All the interior shelves line up with the face frames in the inspiration pic, giving a clean contemporary look. The OP ‘s shelving lines are just a further distraction along with the mismatched hinges.

HU-121#### makes a good point! The shelf edges are distracting, and probably help highlight the hinges. @Cindy, you might try attaching u channel black edge trim to the shelves. Easier than painting, and removable if you don't like it. Something like this. If it makes things look better, you can consider painting the edges.

I finally got a chance to check the recommended hinge out. I think it would be much less visible but still a small square will be seen through the glass. Probably more so than the sample below since my glass will be plain. An option to consider for sure. I believe it would be a better look than what I currently have. I can get all the hinges changed to this recommended hinge for $560.

I have considered painting the fronts of each shelf but I’m not sure that will give me the look from my inspo pic but maybe worth a try. Can I get a u channel black edge trim at a local HD or Lowes? Thanks for everyones ideas! Much appreciated!

Really? That hinge's door frame cutout appears to be a different shape and size than the cutout of the existing Blum 71B950A hinge:
