Sleep, creep, leap!

This is only my third spring with roses. Of course we have all heard the saying, ”In the first year they sleep, the second they creep and the third they leap.”

I am really enjoying this third spring. I have been taking this little still life with them in the spring. I thought I had one from year one, but it looks like I didn’t.

They are all beautiful, Echo and I love the concept of progressive ‘still life with tea set’. Photo three is worthy of an old master. Superb!

Echo, beautiful photos. My favorite is the one with the harsher light; it really does look like a still life painting. I really like the celadon vessel in the first photo, as well.

The play of colors is so delightful; I especially love the second photo with the dark pink/purple roses on the right. I hope when your roses all bloom this spring you'll show us pictures of your roses in a garden setting also.

Caroline, I am not 100% sure ws the first photo was from last spring. With the colors I see and the plants that I have, I believe its a blend of Roald Dahl, Jude the Obscure, Carding Mill and Alnwick

Windowsill, you nailed the color - celedon! That’s not in my vocabulary and I had to look that up! I found it at an antique shop when looking for English transferware like this teapot. The style is called Jadeite. It is actually a sugar dispenser like you would find at a diner, but I removed the lid to use as a small vase.

Ingrid, this is currently my most active flush, I doubt it will be better than it is now. I have been manically photographing every morning and afternoon. I an trying to get a cluster of 5-6 of each type as a bouquet to photograph to compare color, shape and form. I would be happy to share.

Great pics! I love taking pics like that, to remember the season, but mine aren't nearly as well done as yours.
