Does the black relate to anything else. It is the only black element and it does feel overbearing. I voted 'other' because the pale gray wall paint would be nice.

I would do the black on the bottom not the top,

White. Get a runner, not lovin' color or the horizontal install of the floor.

Agree that the dark shelving sort of overpowers the rest of the room.

I too think the dark upppers are too much... dark. I'm not a fan of greige, and I don't think it would flatter your flooring and counters as much as something else could. If I went with a white, it would be a creamy one, or maybe a yellow leaning one. Not a stark white. I'm a fan of color, so I might choose a light saffron for the uppers, with a darker tone of it for the lowers, and a creamy wall paint to pull it together. Or maybe work in tones of creams for the cabinets, and paler sage for the walls. Or if you are keeping the cabinet color on the right, just match to that so all your cabinets are cohesive.
