which rug would you recommend

This is just an extra room room in my home, im using as an extra dining area, desk and sitting room. It’s getting painted extra white, the curtains are black w white tiny specs in it. So which rug would you suggest, Im open for suggestions. Tan rug? White and black rug? Or both? I already have the high top table , curtains, and black chest. The other pieces are not going to be in there, i just put the pic there to give you an idea of room. I was trying to get a black and white wow room.

Definitely not the tan. If you want black and white, get a black and white rug.

why do you need a chest? Dining, desk and sitting... The high top sounds a bit odd.

Why not make it a sitting/conversation space with a simple table/desk and chair to compliment the other furnishings in the room?

My husband liked the idea of a high top which can serve for multiple uses as opposed to a desk. I think that is why im having a hard time visualizing

where will you put the high top? under the light fixture, as one would with a dining table? If you are hell bent on using the hightop and need a conversation area, I might suggest putting the high top against the far wall along with something tall, like a bookcase to balance.

and create a sitting are in the center of the room (with 4 low back swivel chairs and a central ottoman) under the fixture.

You can use the hightop as a desk. just a thought.

I’m not understanding the function of the room.
In any case I think the black and white rug might be too busy. I like the idea of a tan one.

Something with less pattern though. The floors are busy.
