That’s the nature of grids. Hate them. It’s a damp spot with bits of food- of course there will be mold.

I love my Kraus sink grids. I actually have 2 sink grids. One in my cleanup sink and one in my prep sink. I have not had this problem on my sink grids. I rinse them down and wipe a soapy sponge over them after dinner every night and it has been fine. Neither has gotten mold.

No mold on mine either ... but they get scrubbed every week by my cleaning lady! The grids that came with my Julien sinks have all rounded/closed metal, so no edges for stuff to get caught in.

For a replacement, consider looking at silicone mats, which can be easier to clean and are mold-resistant. Also, you can try grids from brands like Kraus or Elkay, which might fit your sink better and offer different materials or designs that resist mold buildup.

Put it in the DW every night with the dishes. Problem solved.
