Some may remember that I asked for recommendations for a spa getaway last year around holiday time. I wanted to gift my DD a 2 night getaway instead of a bunch of material gifts (OK, I still got her some material gifts too because I just can't stop myself). A friend of my DD's recommended Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Rhinebeck, NY. She's been there and enjoyed it. I checked out the website and booked it. It looked fine. I was kind of exhausted from looking at spas that were in budget, or towns that had a day spa and some shopping and a nice hotel, so I booked it and hoped for the best. It did have good reviews on Trip Advisor. It surpassed all my expectations. The inn is beautiful. Our room was huge with 2 queen beds, a fireplace and sitting area and an enormous bathroom. The restaurant was excellent. We ate dinner there the first night, breakfast both days (once in the dining room and once room service) and lunch on our last day before heading home. The Yelp reviews of the restaurant were not great, so I was a little concerned. Everything we had was delicious. And in fact, we went to another restaurant for dinner one night because it had better reviews. It was just ok. The inn's restaurant was significantly better.

Unfortunately, I was slow to book spa appointments and was not able to get anything on our first day but booked a couples massage for our second day. I won't make that mistake next time (and there will 100% be a next time!). We still had a lovely day. Walked the cute little town and did some shopping, and then went to the 'relaxation room' which was very relaxing and wonderful. And we both thought the massage was the best we'd had.

I can highly recommend. It's perfect for a couples getaway (there were a lot more couples than I expected), a mother/daughter trip or a girls trip.

I am going to book for the same days next year (my DD has those days off from her teaching job).
