Can you post a pic? I think paint wouild be a disappointment. Some metallic paints look ok, but copper always looks extra phony to me.

Try lemon juice on it.

Have tried lemon juice and copper polish, it seems to be sealed because these have no effect.

Rustoleum Hammered Copper

It looks like they did a steel overlay to some areas of the copper that wouldn't be affected by chemicals. It's very nice....do you just want a change? If you decide to try the copper paint and don't like it, it could be removed with paint remover/stripper. I wonder what copper rub n buff would do? It would be a little tedious, but might look more realistic than paint.

eta: can you see the bottom of the copper part? I wonder if it's also got the silver areas or, if not, if it could be flipped?

Can't be flipped. I ordered the Rustoleum, I think I might try to paint a few inches on the side part that hangs down around an inch and a half, and live with it for a few days.

Cancelled the Rustoleum. The Rubnbuff is a brillliant idea, might spruce it up without having to go through a big fuss. It occurred to me, that possibly my search for a lighter and brighter room may not all be just decorating, part of it is probably my vision.

Still, new sofa covers and some Rubnbuff on the coffee table will make me happy, and not disturb the comfortable denials I may have going on.
