It’s always possible a plant was mislabeled at a local plant sale. But I think they are probably both the same (spotty dotty) but the one on the right is suffering from a light/water/drainage issue or fungal issue or nutritional deficiency causing the brown spots and yellowing.

Newly emerging foliage on this podophyllum is quite variable. It has been my experience that it takes some time and establishment before the plant assumes its standard appearance. The T&L plant is further along as it was greenhouse grown. There is nothing wrong with the plant sale plant......it looks pretty much the way it should growing in your garden without benefit of any greenhouse coddling :-)

It only emerged from the ground two or so weeks ago. The T&L were in full stride. I figured that was part of the difference, but I'll examine a bit more closely to see if there are any other issues.
