90 inches is 7.5 feet.

I am not sure that I would accentuate the low ceilings by dividing the wall visually.

With that said, may I ask how are you marking the change in paint color? Will there be molding (it's too high for a chair rail, but maybe a plate rail??)

do you have a picture rail to separate? if not, no separation, a tape line won't be clean enough, and even if it was, it will look odd.

I wouldnt want a divider in a room with only 7.5 ft ceilings. Standard ceilings are 8 ft. I would not want the divider line with an 8 ft ceiling either. I like 8 ft ceilings and prefer them, but, not with divided paint lines.

I did that in a couple rooms in my old house, but not as tall a drop as your inspo pic, I went down maybe only 12" give or take (I don't remember exactly). I really liked the look. I did use thin moulding between the two paint colors as a finishing touch, I don't like how it looks without moulding of some sort. I don't have any pics - sorry.

I think it makes the ceiling seem taller..opens it up. It's just paint, try it, you can always change it.

#10 ^^Nothing like a white color wash for walls, trim and ceiling to open up a room. Ben Moore Swiss Coffee is a nice warm white.

The two-tone photos in this thread all seem to have > 8’ ceiling heights. With your 7’6” ceiling height, the height where the two colors meet might be at eye level for you or taller guests which may not be the effect you want especially if you are pairing a strong color with white or if the room is small. But as another poster wrote, try it. Vary the demarcation line if necessary and see if you like it. Paint is relatively easy to redo.

Edit - the 60” height you posted will put the demarcation line right around eye level for a lot of people. Go higher (maybe 7’?) as suggested by @tracefloyd. Test the height before painting with blue painters tape.

You could try a narrow strip the same color as the ceiling to emulate crown molding.

If you have crown molding, paint it the same white as the ceiling...works really well. People think we raised the ceiling when we did this.

Eventually changed it to a color wash, I was tired of all the white trim throughout the room.

I'd make the line 4/5th of the way up the wall. It will make the ceiling feel higher up. If you are purchasing furniture, get lower to the ground furniture. It will also make your ceilings feel higher.

Have everybody sit in a bean bag chair. The ceiling will appear really high!

Two tone is not what I would recommend. I suggest you do something that makes the walls look taller.

Adding wood strips to the walls will make them appear taller.

Decided to paint my hall first, used the same color as my accent wall. I'm happy with results!
