Hello all. I’ve had an exhaustive quest and search, for a year now, to find a backsplash that coordinates with Taj Mahal quartzite counters (like many others), and my beige tile and dark cabinets. I was trying to find a subtle textured large format (for few grout lines), but hadn’t found what didn’t look more like stucco or too much wavy/linear action, etc. Switching to a simple pattern, beige colored (although looks a bit grayer in photos) limestone look, with some texture (that checked a few boxes), I thought maybe I found an option. However, now I’m feeling that there may be too much redundancy (mottled look and tone/colors) in my attempt for some continuity between the two. I feel like I’m back to the drawing board and my husband is beyond fed up with it all. I’ve been scouring this site for a while and haven’t found any other suggestions that felt right for me (too white, glossy, too busy, wrong style, etc). I desperately need your objective and experienced opinions, feedback and possible ideas please. Since more newer styles and neutral toned tiles have come out (maybe there’s something I might not have seen). If you’re not liking the option pictured, and up for the challenge, here’s the difficult criteria/preferences that have stumped me for so long.

• Neutral tone (beige, off white, light taupe/natural), to tie together darker cabinets and beige/light brown floor tile
• Simple and understated design/pattern, to not compete too much w/ Taj (not a standard brick pattern)
• Matte finish, preferably texture and/or natural stone look (would like at least a little character if not competing, which may not be possible)
• Not a standard subway tile or look
• Adding some contrast, but still enough continuity
  -If patterned, preferring vertical pattern to elevate lower ceiling (raised kitchen) and not too busy
  -Possibility of a large format, simple understated look, that would allow for a complimenting pattern on the nearby fireplace new stone work.
  You’ll notice that the tile sheet sample (in photos) takes on different tones depending on the light and shadows. It looks like an off-white in the evenings with artificial lighting.
