Align with counters

Ranges should protrude from the cabinets, because sitting behind them is a fire hazard. This whole thing sounds suspect, because there are exactly zero ranges that are shallower than standard base cabinets.

No, there used to be slide-in and even drop-in ranges where a strip of the countertop ran behind the appliance. I think all the slide-in ranges available now are basically freestanding but with front controls.

In any case I agree aligned with or even slightly proud of the countertop edge.

Tell that to the 22" deep range sitting in my kitchen between 24" standard cabinets @Monique

Thank you @Kendrah and @rebasheba, I'm going to go with this option and align with the countertop edge (ETA: will pull out further so door clears cabinets as highlighted by other commenters)! Haven't encountered this before as every other range I've had naturally extended past the cabinets.

If you had all the specs ahead of time, your counter fabricator could have fabricated the quartz with a seam-free strip behind the range. You can still do it, but you will have two seams. They will need to nail a support wood piece to the wall and install a quartz strip over that. Unless you don't mind the gap behind the range ...

^^Yes, the range needs to be pulled forward more. The oven door should be fully proud of the cabinet doors.

ETA: Past threads on this forum have shown photos of cabinetry damaged by the heat where ranges were improperly positioned (shoved too far back).

Mine- a strip of the quartz to fill the gap. Standard procedure when done 4 years ago.

The seams are a non issue.

@chispa Yes, the plan is to put a piece of countertop along the back—fortunately we have an extra piece and won't have to source more. This project is overseas from where I ordinarily reside, so it's been a challenge juggling all the moving parts. @jinwpg thank you for the photo! That's exactly how we plan to finish it.

The range was installed too far back in the opening. Compounded by the oven door ventilation (slots on the side).

how about in the case where there are metal pieces to each side of the oven door?
