I’d suggest Larkspur and alyssum
Both are deer resistant.
And are beautiful!

Deer will avoid most grasses. And Rutgers publishes an excellent deer resistant plant list.

Deer resistant perennials

There is no room for anything behind the boxwoods. Heck, there’s not even room for the boxwoods. It seems they’re only one year old and they’re close to touching your deck underfencing already.

Thank you. I think the photos are deceiving. There is 2 ft between the boxwoods, and the deck and of course I know that they will continue to grow. I was thinking or grasses or something taller positioned the space between the boxwoods.

There is not enough room to plant behind or between the boxwoods when mature. They make for a nice evergreen background.

A low mounding mix of grasses or perennials or annuals planted in front of the boxwoods (offset in the space between boxwoods) would look nice and add some seasonal color. Try out some colors that play up your brick, front porch furniture and door colors.

Some pots by your doors would also look great. Or hanging baskets along your porch.

For plant suggestions, you need to add your zone and location. Deer dining preferences can vary by area. Your local nursery may have deer-resistant plant suggestions for your area.

Do not worry about the size or placement of the boxwoods. They grow very slowly and are one of the most prunable of any evergreen shrub. Plant whatever you like behind them!
