flooring ideas for room with brick walls

last year

Good morning. After spending way too much time searching online here I am and welcoming any feedback.

I am in search of flooring ideas for a new room that will open up from the living room, where there is dark walnut vinyl flooring. The house is a 1979 ranch.

The new room - a high ceiling family room - will have two exposed brick walls, (I love my brick)

The original thought was to use terra-cotta tile on the floor but the color that appears to look best is sandy, and not true terracotta.

I looked at wood but am unsure of how to create a beautiful transition between the current room and the new room.

Two possibilities: Brick flooring with a whitewash or install simple wood flooring, and paint it a color that would connect the current room to the new room.

An earthy tile is my first choice but at this point anything goes! I lean to blues and warm clay colors, overall.

Thank you!
