Here is my current kitchen layout. The issue that I’m having is the size of the upper cabinets and the size of the hood. I’m wondering if I should do a 36 inch wide hood, because of the size of the base cabinets below being 36 inches And also because I’m afraid a 30 inch wide wall mount hood will seem puny? My other concern is doing the upper cabinets as they are. I have one single door that’s 15 inches and then two doors that are 30 inches total (that 30” two door will have no stile piece in middle). Thoughts?

What if I did one two door cabinet at 21” per door making 42” wide cabinet on either side of hood? What would you do? Is 21” door too wide? Will two upper cabinets either side of hood look off?

yes i know, that was at 48” wide. do you still think two 21” cabinet doors is too wide? at what width do doors become awkward?

As I said… a 15 and a 30 with a 15 next to the hood with the door opening away from the hood. Basically the way it’s drawn but re arranged. This should have been added to your other post but what do we know

The hood is generally 6" wider than the cooktop, and needs a bit of space between it and any adjacent cabinets.

at what width do doors become awkward?

Depends on swing and location. Wider (and taller) doors have a greater tendency to warp.

Do you have upper cabinets in your home? Take cardboard or similar cut to various widths and tape onto an existing door. Try it out.
