Spring 2025 Additions

Good day rose loving friends. I find as time goes by, I have less time available to waste away online at leisure. I come and go checking things out, but thought I'd join in on the spring joy!
My 2025 additions (and still trying to find my optional rose spot at my "new" house) are the following: from RVR: Jude the Obscure, Compassion, Eiffel Tower, and Sutter's Gold. From DAUSA: 5 Evelyn, and received 6 plants! From Menagerie Flower Farm: Sterling Silver. J&P: Fragrant Cloud, Veterans Honor, Zephirine Drouhin, and Persian Yellow!
For $20-25, there was no way I was going to pass up pricing like that from 2010 or so! The J&P plants surprised me. They were amongst the nicest I've recently received. Even the DA roses were actually nicer sized like I remember from 2005. Quality is finally back on track, though I'm sad to have lost several firms this year.
That Persian Yellow from J&P is so big!
I've also gotten more seriously into roses and I've finally raised a couple seedlings after slaughtering most of them because I forgot about them in my fridge.

Quite a few newcomers and they all sound so exciting! I hope you enjoy each one of them. Where do you plan to have Zephirine?

I make vows every year to limit my collection and just grow what I have - no more! - but I keep adding.

This year was the worst - I added five and feel guilty beyond measure since it was supposed to be NONE.

Mine were Double Easy Orange, Don Juan, Easy Does It (a second), Janice Kellogg and Princess Alexandra of Kent (which I ordered last year).

I have a few roses that snuck into the garden this year. From Wisconsin Roses; Sandra (3), Amy (2), Marlons Day (3), White Princess, Mavrik, Coral Sunrise, Mr Rodgers. Nelson's Roses; Christian Dior (2). David Austin; Princess Alexandra of Kent (2). Edmunds Roses; Tineke (5). Yes, I know. That is QUITE a few.

I'd be curious how your PAK will evolve. Mine grew really fast since I planted it a few weeks ago bare root. She is already preparing 4 blooms or so - I am very excited to see her although I expect the pink will be more washed out in our southern sun than what I have seen in other gardens. It's the same with most of my roses.

My Olivia is almost white where I see her pink in other places. We have had some cooler temps in May and I can't say how much I enjoy the color of Easy Does It right now. A glowing, exuberant sunset - if only these temps could last. Summer is coming and it will wash out all of my roses. Except Munstead Wood who gets bright magenta pink.

I haven't quite decided on ZD's placement; I have a couple places I'd like to try though. Eventually, I'll have to have some trees trimmed because someday, I'll also have a small vegetable plot.

I hope your 'Princess Alexandra of Kent' does great for you! I've discovered she didn't like my locale, or maybe I should try again. I love her fragrance!

Ken, I look forward to hearing about how your Maiden Roses from Wisconsin Roses do!
