I would like to find a light blue gray, to go in small south facing bedroom. It will be our son‘s room. He’s 20 years old, and he won’t be with us full-time for long, so would like it to work as a guest space. The floors are an antique wide board pine…the room does not get a whole lot of light. I’d like to keep it light and fresh I do not like green or brown however, not sure what to do with the floors bring this color and we may lighten to take red out… flush mount light fixture will be antique brass…The bedding is off-white with a blue ticking stripe. His dresser is a medium tone wood. I’m under the gun to pick something soon, a sample here of Collingwood between the windows and the sample of Marina gray which is too dark imo…any advice would be greatly appreciated…looking for a fresh clean coastal feel.

Beautiful home, fantastic floors. Collingwood looks great and is often an easy grey to work with.

Paint the walls and the ceilings as the room will feel much bigger than having a different wall color. The white framing where the ceiling meets the wall near the small window - paint that the same color as the wall. Having it a white trim color makes the space feel too boxy. Leave the floors as is for now. With all of the furniture in and new wall color you just might like them.

I would try to work with the blue in the strips on his bedding.

Here is SW Mountain Air, it'd look great with your existing flooring color too. You can see the reflection in the wall picture looks like your floor color...

What lovely rich, warm floors. Please don’t fall too quickly into changing the color. The fad of light floors will soon pass and move onto wanting the rich deep color yours currently have.

I love the floors and wouldnt change them. If you are looking for a gray that has a blue cast to it, try SW Cityscape. Its one of my favorite blue gray colors.

Depending on the shade of blue in the bedding I would choose one of the following blues. Lighter than Marina Gray but enough gray and enough weight to give the room a more masculine feel.

I had pine floors like yours in my last house, an 1840 half Cape. Love.

Blue and orange are opposite each other on the color wheel. The bluer your wall color the more you emphasize the floor color (I love your floors but you say they are too orange)

Those floors are outstanding--they look to be very old. I wouldn't do anything to them.

As for colors, a muted gray/blue/green would be very nice, with a darker tone on the trim.

But a room is more than the color of the walls and floors. The furnishings--furniture, carpeting, window treatments--all play a part to complete the room. What else are you planning for this room? Do you have furniture or are you starting from square one?
