Select a drapery panel that contrasts with the walls.

Also that clump of small images over your shoulder next to the closet is sloppy and not effective.

I think the layout in your room could be improved.

I would start by placing the bookcase against the backwall as a backdrop.

Was in same boat, and am still looking for some greenery, but also found I enjoyed table lamps on a nearby table, or warm overhead lights instead of cool tone lights. Otherwise, opening shades was helpful. At my desk, I like to add a colorful placemat or runner to work on.

When you look from the doorway it looks lousy and unwelcoming due to the backs of the computers and the cords. I would put the desk against the wall to the left of the window and get rid of the drapes so it brightens and cheers up the room with the natural light. You can move the shelf to a different wall if there is no longer room by your desk and add a corner chair to the right of the closet. The general rule for hanging things on a wall is that sitting spaces have pictures lower and walking/standing areas have them higher.

I do not think an "I" shaped desk would be an improvement, nor would putting the monitors near the window be a good idea. The window is too small to offer much and it is crammed in the corner. Also from all appearances it would put your back to the entrance. I would however probably flip the desk so your back is to the wall with the window and not the closet door.

I would definitely slide the desk towards the wall ( like shown above ) and tame those cords - there are great cord wraps out there. Hopefully there is an outlet by that window. The bookcase is nice but feels a bit chaotic to me , not calm or soothing - maybe a lower cabinet with doors and a floating shelf above? I like plants but get at least one that is bigger ( try to get one that cleans the air - it will help it feel fresher in there ).

Please paint. For me the gray is just dull and depressing and must feel gloomy on a rainy day.

So glad your four legged friend can hang out with you while you work - that's a nice break.

I would definitely not have the cords and screen backs to the doorway.
