Beginning to see scapes

We are just beginning to see scapes here and I don't mean the species. Begin with a Bang has scapes. Two seedlings, one that has been around for a while and a year old seedling have scapes. Another one with scapes is a seedling from Olallie. The year old seedlings are usually the first to set scapes. We did find a flower open today--nothing to write home about--on what we call a 'cheater scape', a rebloom scape that formed last season but didn't get the chance to bloom. I think it is Buddy's Betsy X Heaven Bengal Tiger, but the tag is missing.

I love this peony.

The clematis are blooming.

I have been enjoying the iris, many of which are blooming for the first time in the garden.

This is a noid.

Hooray on your first bloom! I'm seeing a couple of scape here too, one on Kiss of Paradise, which is always my first bloomer, and one on Yoga Man. Your irises are so pretty!

I love the iris!! So pretty!! And I agree about the peony-I would love it too. What a red!!

Looks as though your noid plicata iris may be the classic Stepping Out.

Mantis, it's interesting that you say that about the noid plicata. I ran across a photo of Stepping Out the other day and thought they looked quite similar.

What a pretty Iris Rocket Fuel is. I do like seeing all the variations of Iris they have now days. Unfortunately I'm too busy in the spring to appreciate them in my own garden, so I love seeing others pictures of them............Maryl
