wall decor above/beside help

last month

Hi! I’m in need of some ideas for this wall, the goal is to add focus and interest. The rug and bench are for sure being added, I’d prefer to not paint… I could be talked into a wall mural if it was a good price & I loved.
We’re book readers before bed so these are some light sconce options I thought would be nice (the arms swivel & dimming features {knobs on the base, so can’t put them too high})
I’m worried if I don’t add something above the sconces it’ll look bare?
The artwork with black on the bottom, I don’t feel draws the eye up enough & is kinda square.
The second artwork doesn’t seem to cover enough space, but does draw the eye up.
I really don’t want to add anything framed/too square/sharp above the bed since I have the two frames on the right side wall already & the headboard & bedside tables are already so square/sharp.

I would choose something serene. the floral curtains look like a bed sheets.

keep the decor soft, like botanicals?

now that I see the TV space, I would paint the night stand the same purple and add lamps.

It took a moment to see the pups lol.

The purple in your proposed rug picks up the color of the built ins although I would want it wide enough for the feet to hit getting in and out of bed.

Are there two TVs in the room?

I don't like the big bold greenish textiles. Something much smaller and in a simple plain cream would be nice.

I dislike the proposed skinny sconces..so harsh. Table lamps with shades and a more substantial base would add so much more warmth. The black and white framed art also seems harsh.

The leather bench seems to work so go with the caramel, cream and tan scheme with those built ins an soften the space. I would consider painting the built ins a soft cream as well.

-Can’t raise curtains, cause our sliding door.
-Keeping curtains they match almost exactly the pillow covers my mom MADE that are on our bed 🤍
-Our future rug will most likely go the correct way, had to do the rug this way for our old bed frame, it wouldn’t stop sliding. We have a very long bedroom so in person it really doesn’t look too bad. (I’ll be getting grippy feet soon)
-I’ve removed our echo show, wasn’t being used there like I thought (between the 2 framed pics).
-I’ve unfortunately decided I will most likely be painting our built ins urbane bronze?, & our walls the same green color as our bathroom, jungle camouflage by Behr(2nd pic). Our guest bath cupboards are also the same green. So tired of painting, the walls used to ALL be a cardboard box brown color!!

    • I think I’m going for a feminine moody vibe! That seems to show the best inspo on Pinterest for what I like. But I don’t want it to be too dark.
    • My living room is vintage charm by Behr, white rock fireplace, espresso wood floors. And I want our dining room/coffee area to be a dusty blue color with a vintage moody coastal vibe. My house has lots of dusty/muted blue, green, pink/purple with black and brass metals. Dark and tan woods.

The macrame shown on the green wall would be the piece I would use over the bed.

The current wall color in the bedroom is beautiful and goes with the headboard and bedding very nicely.

I would reserve the green for the bathroom...too much if the bedroom is the same green imo.

Urbane Bronze is very dark with a touch of green. I would find a cream caramel that goes with the bedding and leather bench.

Look at Macaroon Cream for the built ins. A monochromatic look is very soothing for a bedroom.

Keep the same proposed Persian carpet to tie in the curtains and other colors.

That floral pattern looks terrible in the room. Given the bed you selected, a more contemporary fabric solution would have been a better choice.

Here's a visual or my suggestions with the wall in Behr Jungle Camouflage you plan on painting..

    - The rug you show doesn't seem to coordinate colour wise and should extend further on each side of the bed (see suggestions by others above)

    - I'm suggesting another style bench in fabric - no vinyl

    - If paining your wall unit in Urbane Bronze, I suggest you remove the top section and install brass hardware.

    - I also suggest you replace your curtains and let your mother's pillow covers be the star!

    - Replace your fan with something more decorative such as the 30" blade with light shown below

    - Place brass tasks lamps on your night table

    - I'm showing a set of 3 modern style art

    Note :

Everything I'm showing is not expensive and available on either Wayfair and/or Amazon.

I’m going to agree with Beverly on this one, the draperies are not good. They don’t look like a good match to the pillows and are both too short and not full enough. They look like Waverly fabric Norfolk Rose. I used that in our master bedroom in 2002 - they’ve lived a good life.

Keep the bed pillows but by all means - those curtains(as stated), are (sorry).....ugly!

For me the bedstead with headboard is so light in color that it gets lost in the room.
