At least 6 hours of full sun. Don't stint the watering. Watch out for the dreaded red lily beetle -- horrible scourge! Enjoy your new lily!

Voles also love the bulbs.

Just to add - lilies are tremendous container plants - living for years in the same pot, requiring very little except sun and water. Keeping them in a pot makes it easy to tuck the whole thing into a bed or border then stash them out of sight once the blooms are over (the foliage takes ages to die back but is essential for next years growth)

All I know is asiatics do way better than orientals for me. That one looks awesome. Post pics of it in bloom!

I grow most of my lilies on a west-facing deck in full, hot sun (more than 8 hours). I kept them there over this past winter by snuggling the 10 large pots next to each other, and enclosed them in insulating foil/foam on all sides. They came through the cold and snow here in Massachusetts beautifully, and are exceeding my hopes with their vigor. And no dreaded lily beetles (yet) or voles.

Can't wait for the bloom explosion!
