ceiling paint color match???

We had to patch a few areas of our ceiling and are trying to avoid painting the entire ceiling. Lowe’s told me most ceiling paint is universal so we got the sherwin Williams ultra white ceiling paint. My worry was it would be too light compared to the dusty old ceiling but it actually is reading as darker-does it look like it has too much blue in it maybe? Anyone else go through this?

Have you put two coats of paint on it, or only one. It looks a bit gray in your pictures, and doesnt match in with your crown moulding very well. I would paint it a bit whiter, so it doesnt have the dirty gray look.

Yeah that’s two coats. It’s just crazy cause the new color is “ultra white”- not sure how much whiter it can get!

Also, it never works to try and match the ceiling color. Put a coat of oil based primer on your ceiling to seal it, so the popcorn doesnt let loose, which it will with just latex paint on it. Once the p rimer is dry, then give the entire ceiling 2 coats of a nice flat white latex paint.
