A few garden shots today

I took a stroll around the garden today and took a few photos. A few of my established hosta are smaller this season but look healthy. Wondering if the weather here is the reason. This spring was anything but normal…….again. I divided Sum and Substance two seasons ago and neither division has done that well, one division is upper middle here.






No need for mulch here.


My earliest blooming clematis…I shouldnt have pruned it this spring, it is short but tons of buds.

      Sherry - Looks great, I strive for "no mulch needed" but have a lon way to go.

      I have a Red-bellied woodpecker that devours my oranges I put out for the Orioles.

      Sherry, your garden looks beautiful already! I just had to dig up my large old S&S as it had HVX. Watch yours closely, they are one of the susceptible ones.

      Sherry, love how natural it looks! Also I do not see many people growing villosa heucheras, I think they underservedly do not get more attention.

      Same as you I strive for no need to mulch attitude. I was very happy to have thick leaves mulch and topped it with local farm horse manure. I think it saved my hostas from early growing and being hit by frosts. I have few that took hit but not as bad as last year.

      Do you know that Clemmie name? Am assuming it is group 1 that does not need pruning to beging with?

      Love woodpecker pictures! I hear one or more? In my woods but do not see it so close.

      Lindalana, sorry I dont know the clematis name I got it at Costco about three years ago and tagging there is generic at times.

      Yes, I love my Autumn Bride heuchera…..I swear it will grow anywhere!!! I do find a few seedlings around the gardens every spring, they transplant easily. They must have agressive roots because weeds are never around them. I saw a program about plants with agressive roots several years ago, fascinating material.
