With one bedrrom it's likely you require good storage on either side of the bed,........but why open shelving? Do you have items you want to display on the shelving or will you be building the shelves and then shopping to fill them. That makes no sense.

These bed units with the 'bridge' were quite popular in the 70s. They fell out of favor. You can still find them in resale shops as the Boomers die off. They don't hold much in the way of clothes.

Do you really want all manner of 'stuff' exposed that has to be cleaned and organized??

Large 3 drawer chests on either side of the bed will hold much more in the way of clothes storage.

Look at Murphy beds. They are fully integrated with shelves, closed storage and lighting. My niece has one in her guest room and it’s really useful. And attractive.

IMO we need to see the whole space and open shelving does not really do much for storage . A to scale floor plan , some clue as to what you need to store that is how you get real help. Post the plan and the lisy here in jpeg format in a comment. Make sure you show closet windows doorways and where those lead too

a good edit. sloped ceilings shouldn't alter your design ideas, regardless, I wouldn't do anything to the ceiling anyway.

moveable pieces so when you change your mind, you aren't committed to built ins.

keep it light, light color, light in structure. don't crowd the space.

mirrors or framed art behind the lamps to soften the look.

Don't do a Murphy bed, they aren't comfortable for everyday sleeping, but you can certainly do similar built-in storage around your bed.
