Window treatment options

So we are in the middle of a full home remodel, and in several rooms, the trim of the window is very close to the crown molding. I’d love to do a lovely drapery, but is that even an option given the space constraints? Do I have to do a Roman shade instead (which is also lovely, but not what I wanted in every room.) Any advice how I would hang?

You can certainly mount drapery rods between the crown molding and the window trim. It might be tight, but you can do it.

Will the drapery have to open and close or just be panels on either side of the window?

Lovely room, and I agree with Yvonne that you probably have enough room to hang hardware in the space between the crown molding and the window casing. How much space is there, in inches? You need to consider brackets as well as the rods that would fit.

As for shades, unless you have a fairly deep window recess, they would have to be mounted outside the frame as well. How deep are your recesses? Can you post a closer up view of the windows?
