I wouldn't like the countertop material on that wall. I would use wood and match the wall color. To me it isn't part of the kitchen.

Leave it as it is for the top and do it the same as the walls IMO not a feature to be high lighted . Tell hubby he has enough black in the space already

Top the pony wall with wood and paint it the same white as your trim. That is the usual way that pony walls, in living spaces, are finished off.

Agree no countertop material on that wall. It's a wall, not a counter.

Top the wall with wood that matches the island so something relates. NOT black stone.

From the dining table side I would like to occasionally use the top of wall for serving or drink set up…. Use a runner or trays?
