Have you considered using a wire brush to remove the caulk?

Try heating it up with a heat gun and then use the wirebrush, it may take it off easier. It wont be fun, however you do it.

I might try a mason, because, he or she, should be familiar with brick. Good luck.

Sorry OP! I dont have any real solutions, only came here totell you we all have one of those. My DH tries to help, and makes things way worse. He killed so many of my plants, roses that are irreplacable etc, i get really mad at him, but after a while realize it could be much worse. So just came here to say i feel your pain.

First of all, talk to husband and ask him what type of caulk he used. If it's something polyurethane based, like Flextra or Sikaflex, it can be peeled right off, like those command removable hooks, no solvents or wire brushing needed. Find an end where you can pluck a small portion of the caulk, then pull hard, at a 45 degree angle. It should come completely off but keep in mind it will stretch quite a lot, about 10 times its original length.

So are you going to tell us what you did that caused hubby to retaliate in this fashion or should we use our imagination? LOL. A brick mason can fix it so settle down.
