Sunday's Flowers

We are lucky here if we can find the flowers under the weeds. We have had so much rain--6 inches in the last couple of day--that the weeds are terrible. The daylilies have never looked better. Here are a few from Sunday.

The Mayor of Munchkinland had its ffo today. I would have shooed the bug but I didn't see it.

Early this spring Gary Lynn's Calliopsis looked terrible, but now it looks better than it ever has. The flower has always been gorgeous, but the plant is puny.

The rest are seedlings.

These two are siblings--Dragon Nation X (Small World Fire in the Hole X Stoke the Fire). We would be excited but for the fact that we don't think they are better than the pollen parent, which will be an intro in 2027. Of course, these are their first blooms and they could improve as they mature.

Now it's time to post something other than yellow with red eyes. I think this is Smoke Shadows X Geometric Wizard. We think this one might have what it takes for registration.

Just Like Candy X Cherry Pie a la Mode. This one was prettier in the garden than in this photo.

You have some pretty one there, Nancy and Smoke Shadows X Geometric Wizard is my pick of them. Both of the Dragon Nation seedling are pretty too.

You are so right, Nancy. The abundant rain has helped the daylilies look so good but same goes for weeds. All the seedlings look good but, like Kay, I really like the Geometric Wizard seedling.

I agree …the Smoke Shadow seedling is lovely, hope it continues to do well. It sounds like you have gotten more rain than here, but we have had enough the past week or so. I am catching up on my weeds.

Bud count looks good on the Smoke Shadow seedling. This may be a strange year for performance. I noticed today that Fried Green Tomatoes this year is filled with buds and tall scapes, just after I badmouthed it on Kate's post.

Just Like Candy here had terrible bud count. If your seedling is good sized and well budded, it could indeed be an intro. Is the Mayor well budded this year?

The Smoke Shadows X Geometric Wizard looks very good. Hope it continues to do well and you end up registering it. A winner.

All of your seedlings look good. The Smoke Shadows seedling is my favorite. I do like the flower on Gary Lynn's Calliopsis - too bad the foliage is puny.
