last modified: last month

Every day brings huge clumps of blooms. Another huge storm tonight with more rain will probably enhance the mid to late blooms

Reddy Freddy is a tall speciman

Sweet Suzanne in the sun

Megillah is just beginning

Mean Green with first blooms with Royal Girls also beginning

Rumba Numba looks like this every day

Clownfish

I continue to post Pink Panther Paws but it has been a bloom machine

And of course Mister Mayor

What’s Up Down South is just beginning

Windyhill’s Designer Red is a good bloomer

A contrast in red-Fires of Varanisi

Lillian’s White Lies with Sweet Suzanne in the background (as well as hose and cardboard!)

Thumbthing Special has been bug eaten the past two years. First blooms have not disappointed

White Eyes Pink Dragon (and more foot step cardboard!)

Blushing Escapade

Ashville White Winged Dove has been another massive bloomer

Blackberry Dragon in foreground, Ashville White Winged Dove, Reddy Freddy is the tall red in back and Which Way Jim is tall purple on left end. I’m standing in the middle of this garden

Drbra’s Seedling has so much going that is hard to capture-it’s really pretty

Another super duo every day-Deliverer and Mister Butters

Isabelle Rose

August Wedding has been terrific

Sorry-that’s a lot but so many more!! I do try to pick the picks of the bunch!!

What massive clumps you have! Thanks for showing a photo of the Inimitable seedling! It looks more peachy in your garden. I think my favorite photos are of Rumba Numba and friends and Mister Mayor with all those beauties surrounding it. Windy Hills Designer Red caught my eye too. How long have you had Pink Panther Paws? It must be a good multiplier.

Oh my so much eye candy. Love it. A nice blend of groupings and those clumps are just stunning. Mean Green and What's Up Down South I grew in my prevous garden and they always did so wonderfully. Most if not all of Judy's plants did really well for me. I miss them all but I'm out of room here until I expand the front bed again.

Sady, this morning I found that a deer chewed most of the buds on Rocks Cry Out which had some really tall scapes and ready to bust out with blooms. Plus, it chewed down one large clump of rudbeckia. For some reason the deer seem to like eating that perennal this year. I've been spraying all the gardens so not sure why it isn't working.. I just resprayed this morning again.

Oh my goodness Kate! What a show. Glad those bugs are gone. Designer Red and Mister Mayor are my favorites, hard to pick favs today, so many glorious clumps.

Still wish you could share that rain, we need some again. Do you have any idea how many daylilies you have?

Seems like such a difference for you since you got a handle on the bug population. I hope it continues............I couple of yours shows me that when it comes to daylily colors nothing is set in concrete for me. I'm not a red daylily fan, but there seems to be some exceptions so I guess I like it more then not. Wendyhill's Designer Red sure shouts my name. How does it do with fading?.......I'm not big on purples either but Clownfish is striking........... Thumbthing Special was worth the wait for the bugs to leave. My kind of form.............Maryl

nd, of course, Mister Mayor is a winner! I like Suzanne and Mean Green is wonderful this year. The colors are so intense, and that s not usual here. I really do like Pink Panther Paws. I think you are clump Queen this year.

Debra, the clumps are huge-foliage is massive! There is a little peachy overtone on your seedling-not much and sometimes look more pink. It is a lovely bloom. This is year 3 for Pink Panther Paws. It has multiplied well.

Julia, you do need room for Judy’s plants as they multiply like crazy! Oh no on the deer. That is so despairing!! Especially when you are spraying.

Sherry, I hate you are not receiving some of this rain. We had another huge storm last night and then another one today and expecting more tomorrow. So, cardboard stepping pads remain!

As to how many daylilies I have, the easy answer is way too many! I am almost embarrassed to admit I have approximately 1400 named cultivars and probably another 400 or so noids. Many of the noids were gardens of elderly daylily friends who had to downsize significantly. That is something I seriously need to consider!!

Kay, Looking at your posts, I think clump queen is your title!! We know what the water means to them!!

Maryl, I have been excited to see many daylilies I have not seen in several years due to the bugs. Windyhill does fade like all reds and purples but here it does what I call a pretty fade. Probably not sunfast enough for you. It would probably still look great if it had some afternoon shade.

Blushing Escapade looks very good. Julia, I too have had rudbeckia eaten. Deer damage is especially bad this year, even with nightly spraying. You'd think that the coarse, fuzzy foliage would not appeal to them. I see that Clownfish is under 5 inches. I don't think we have heard you evaluate it.

Mantis, this is not a really good depiction of Clownfish. The storms had strong winds and many of my plants had scapes that were beaten down . They are usually very upright and tall. It is under 5 inches but always blooms great and reblooms.
