We are making out fine here in west central Indiana. The counties to the east of us and to the north of us were hit pretty hard, but I think it was mostly wind damage. This has been the rainiest summer I can remember.

They can start in Tulsa Oklahoma. No rain for going on 3 weeks, worse out in the panhandle.....But then again, he that controls water controls civilizations, so maybe we better be careful what we wish for.............Maryl

We had 4 inches of rain a couple of days ago, 1 inch yesterday. Thankfully the 4 inches came off & on all day, unlike a few weeks ago when we had 5 or more inches all at once and lots of damage including my loss of mulch. We've had at a few inches each week for many weeks.

We have had 5” of rain the past 3 days. An F0 tornado two miles from here on Tuesday. we have a big pile of tree branches again to be picked up. This time my two neighbors have much more tree damage than we did. Flood warnings again depending on where the next two days of rain are the worst. Also record rain fall this season. Illinois has had 203 recorded tornadoes this season, a record here and a nationwide record. All in all, we have been lucky where we are.

As Sherry mentioned in a post, the season has been feast or famine in terms of rain. After wettest July I can remember, I am now like Maryl and seeing no rain. In comparison to your situation, Sherry, I shall choose mine. Tornadoes are frightening.

There was heavy rain here this morning, and White River is out of its banks in Indianapolis. Some northside residents were evaucated last night, and more are under evacuation advisories as the river slowly crests today. I think our rain total for the week is around 6 inches now.

Sherry, Indiana has experienced about the same number of tornadoes as Illinois - just over 200 - this year. In the past, it has averaged 22 tornadoes per year. Even when there are not tornadoes, we've had monstrous thunderstorms. This past Monday we had winds of 60-75 mph with a storm, and my power was out for nine hours. Several trees were downed in my neighborhood this year.

Nancy - This is the rainiest summer I can recall - definitely the rainiest August.
