Sweltering, Steamy Sunday

With all the heat and humidity, it's quite sultry and sticky today. It's interesting to see which blooms were faded and/or wilted by 2 p.m. This was how they looked at 7:30 a.m. when I took the pictures.

Perseus' Sandals X Jumping Jack Flash had eight huge blooms today.

Core Values X Bowtie Affair had four.

$exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious 2 had four blooms today on ffo, but only two were close enough together to be photographed.

Forty Days and Forty Nights with an ffo. This midseason bloomer couldn't wait to start blooming and joined the EM crowd.

Unbound just began blooming.

Heavenly Vampiress has been blooming in a pot for about a week.

Red Edition X The Ultimate Sacrifice improved a bit after getting a shot of bug spray.

Very nice for a hot steamy day. Heaven;ly Vampriess is a beauty. $exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious 2 is always a pretty one. Core Values X Bowtie Affair lloks really good, and I don't have to tell you how much I like Perseus Sandals. Nice post, Debra.

How does the Perseus Sandals seedling hold in the heat? You'll have to start thinking of a name. Forty Days and Forty Nights was a slow multiplier here, though that is not uncommon for an Emmerich. I didn't care for the flower, but people like it for hybridizing, I am told. Keep us posted on Unbound blooming.

The seedlings look like they like their new home. They all look so good. Did you have to start from scratch with your beds or did previous owners have a few spaces already garden cultivated? Whichever, these look very healthy and to have increase on some is really impressive.

Mantis - The Perseus' Sandals seedling kept its color up to 98 degrees in Nashville. Although it starts out a black purple early in the morning later in the day it becomes a dark purple. By the end of the day in the 90s with high humidity, the green throat changes to yellow. I do have a name picked out it should I decide to register it.

Sherry - For the Perseus' Sandals seedling, I have a very large clump, a smaller clump, and double fan division planted together.

Kate - I had to start from scratch. The only bed available was in the front and only got 3 hours of sun a day. I still don't have anything planted in it. I do think the place where I have four long rows of daylilies in back was once a vegetable garden because of how rich the soil is there. The soil was likely amended for many years.

Kay and Nancy G. - I can't decide if I like Heavenly Vampiress. The color is very different from Gossard's photos, and it doesn't have many teeth in it's new state. I won't make any decisions on it until I see it next year.

Julia and Maryl - Thanks for your comments on the Red Edition seedling. It was one I had hoped to register, but the clump got decimated by grubs in Nashville. I hope it will continue doing well here.
