The only picture with a full utility room is the original configuration. The washer and dryer are only accessible from outside. I have a 8x9 space in a small 3bd 1bth home (1970 ranch). I'd like to make it into a 2 bath home but as you can tell my only space is tiny.

I've already accepted that I won't be able to keep the washer and dryer in this space, so I'm considering on eating into the master bedroom to the left and building a closet in the hallway for a stacking washer and dryer.

Would you recommend a large single bathroom with double sinks and an extra toilet closet, or would you rather have 2 "efficiently configured" =) bathrooms. I'm not even sure a 30"x30" shower is legal, but I'm down to counting inches right now.

The 2 bath configuration creates a master ensuite that is only 5x4 but I think I could manage with a pedestal sink. The original bath now becomes the common bath, but no space was spared for walking around. I also replaced the 30" door with a 24" door.

The 1 bath configuration would definitely feel larger, but technically I suppose it's still in the "1 bath" category. So this would be a massive expense for no gain, but I'm just guessing.

Any thoughts or configurations of your own?
