Mostly Seedlings for Thursday

last year
last modified: last year

My daylilies are blooming in a mixed-up order. I have MLs starting bloom with Earlies, and many EM bloomers, especially UFs, that haven't started yet. Very few of my daylilies are in the shade in the morning, and that's making getting good photos hard.

Diver Down X (Insider Trading X The Ultimate Sacrifice) - The Diver Down seedling is definitely outdoing mama Diver Down, which has horrible blooms, scapes under 10 inches, and only two scapes out of seven fans. The baby is not well budded, but it has scapes ranging from 20-24inches.

Trio of the above Diver Down seedling

Roman Cohort X The Ultimate Sacrifice - Height matches the 29 inches it showed in Nashville, and bud count is slightly better due to lateral branching. The best scape has at least 13 buds.

Fighting Fire X (Insider Trading X The Ultimate Sacrifice) Scapes are taller than it was in Nashville, and it had a nice increase over the winter. The sun throws the color off and makes it hard to see the nice watermark. It's really a darker red than this with almost no orange tones. The ffo had three blooms.

White Tooth X Skater #5 - This one is evergreen. It was alway short (22-25 inches in Nashville) but it's shorter here (18 inches). I hope it will be taller and better budded next year.

Dancing Flamingo X Neon Flamingo - Shorter than in Nashville. It has a decent number of buds.

Judy's Jewel X Bubblegum Queen #1 is well-budded, but not as well-budded as in Nashville. It looks a lot like Bubblegum Queen.

Pink Aloha X (Natalie Antoinette X Symphony of Praise). In the heat, it's a bitone.

White Tooth X Skater #3 - Same height as in Nashville, but not as well budded. The petal color is washed out in the bright sun. The lavender is much nicer than this in person.

White Ambrosia is one of the few in the shade for a bit in the early morning. It's much easier to take a glamour shot in the shade! I loved the look of this bloom today!
