I''m not familiar with historical Cape Cod llghting but I noticed a canopy would be cute and practical over the front door. Navy would look good with white or gray.

Agree with @deegw - you can always mock up the size with cardboard, but when in doubt go bigger for sure - great house!

I agree, the front porch needs something, and an awning might be just the thing, but, its a coastal property and nothing says coastal more than the color it already is. I like the house with its existing color. It stands out. I wouldnt want to change that. Change the things, that need changing. I agree, it needs new light fixtures, and it needs a walkway, and that walkway should extend to the front door too. If there is one there now, I cant see it in your pictures. Some nicer landscaping would be a good thing too. The house itself is quite attractive.

I would get rid of those shutters, beef up the trim just a bit and do 2 lights at the front door.

home to a white or gray, remove shutters and add coastal type lighting- like the cape cod lantern styles above. we will be adding an addition to right
of home in the next year…i just planted a row of blue hydrangea down left side of home running all the way to back-
we will add flagstone walkway to front steps and beef up front. Any advice on a white or gray paint color? don’t like green undertones - like more blue. was thinking a navy front door too…

We used Benjamin Moore Pewter 2121-30 on our coastal house. In the sunlight it's a clean gray/blue that's rich and fresh looking. The door was turquoise powder.

It's a chameleon color so don't go by online chip pictures.

First REMOVE ALL THE SHUTTERS THAT DON'T FIT OR WORK ON THE HOUSE!

Wood houses should be stained and NOT painted so they don't peel over time. You can select a solid pigmented stain that will cover the blue.

I think some canopy over the front door would be prudent.

IMO this gray color would work well with your white trim. I realize this is a transparent stain.

Lantern fixtures seem appropriate. Selecting Nautical style seems........a bit .kitschy

Those shutters have to go for sure those upper ones are just silly. You need a walkway to the front door an awning type cover for that front door an arbor with agate would be perfect too.. I happen to kind of like the color it is maybe just a shade lighter with white trim. I like good outdoor lighting so all LED bulbs for sure no the front and back lights do not HAVE to match but if seen together IMO a nicer look.Please give that home some nice landscaping too.

Arbor at the top of the stairs when you start down the path Or it could just be a white picket fence mounted at the top of the wall.

The arbor and gate right at the top of the stone steps like an entry into the yard.

A single lantern style fixture over the front doorway would work, too. Have you narrowed down the color options?
