What would be the next size up rug.

Currently testing this 5x7 rug with the the living room area. I will be keeping the sofa, chair l, two ottomans, tv console and adding a live sheet across the chair. Everything will be little more toward the center. What would be the next size rug to use?

5 X 7 is WAY too small for layering on wall-to-wall carpeting. Either a much larger rug on top, or none at all. Rug should go all the way to the sofa. 8 x 10 maybe
or larger - 9 x 12.

Agree with Chloe. Rugs measuring 5x7 are much too small to be used in a furniture arrangement with a couch and several other pieces. If you’re talking about a grouping of only 2 chairs and a side table, this rug might be big enough.

Your room + furniture calls for a 9x12.

Meant to ask - what does “a live sheet across the chair” mean? I do think the rug colors work well with your decor and the brown wall-to-wall carpet. I agree a 9 x 12 would be better. Rug should at least “touch” the legs of the sofa and chair and be up close to the TV table. Should also be the length of the sofa plus the end table. That will define the whole seating area.
