Those pink seedlings are my favorite by far. It looks like they like Indy. The heat is doing me in….. still in the nineties here. cant spend much time outside.

I find it amazing you got so much done at the new place….the daylilies look so good despite the upheaval.

Ditto on what Sherry said. Really liking those pinks. I like the Red Venom seedling too. Your season so far shows the work you put in last fall in a very short time period.

Nice grouping on the seedlings. Looks like your blooms are booming now.

Sherry - Not all the daylilies look good, and some are not even scaping this year. The first ones I planted in September were the evergreens, and most of those seem to be doing the best. These are the daylilies that have not scaped: Absolute Ripper, Kingdom Without End, Soli Deo Gloria, Magnify the Lord and Razor Eyes. Others have multiple fans, but only one or two scapes. Open Door is one of those. But overall, most did well.

From what I've gathered from you, Razor Sharp wasn't the most vigorous daylily going, nor was Soli Deo Gloria by most others accounts. Maybe they just need some sweet talk and more time to come around to their new home.......Be still my heart on your pinks. That clump shot of Sesy Samantha seedling had to be even more glorious in person. Beautiful...........Maryl

You are at peak? I find that hard to believe. I don't peak here for at least another week, and you are farther north. All the Bubblegum Queen seedlings look interesting, but of course, pictures don't tell things like size very well. Those with the strongest edges have the most surface appeal.

Mantis - Blooms started here the first week of June, and since so many mids and MLs bloomed with EMs, yes I am at peak. Also I was tired when I did this post. Only one of the pink seedlings above is out of Bubblegum Queen. It is 7.5 inches. The first three pink seedlings should have said Bubblegum Delicious on the parentage. (I've corrected it now.) They all had 6-inch blooms in Nashville, but they are in the five-inch range here this year - especially the two that didn't get planted until late October. Number 2 that was planted in September is 5.8 inches. What is "surface appeal"?

Maryl - I didn't bring Razor Sharp with me. That should have been Razor Eyes in my post to Sherry. My brain must be short circuiting on names that start alike.

$exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious #1 is my favorite of these, but all are appealing. I know, not saying much, I love my daylilies! You mentioned your Red Edition seedling leaning, whether toward the sun or weather. I can say it is probably toward the sun. I have noticed, in particular Grand Daddy photo in my last post is leaning to the sun. And it is in full sun til 2:00 pm. Makes a good photo though, LOL. And my Absolute ripper did not bloom either, and the plant looks good. Late to show up in the spring though, had me worried. Maybe they will bloom late? It does seem like you are at peak early, I was at peak less than a week ago. But I guess that all depends on the weather in each area, so many things can contribute. I am really impressed at how well your plants are doing though!

Nancy - Interesting that your Absolute Ripper did not scape either. At least your plant looks good. It may bloom later for you. My foliage is really wimpy. I would love for it to bloom later, but I doubt mine will. My Red Edition seedling never leaned in Nashville. Here it gets sun from about 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. But it's not far from where the sun's first rays touch the yard at 6:45 a.m. It may be stretching as it tries to touch those rays.

$exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious #1 & 2 are among my very favorites of these, along with the Color of Wonderful. Red Venom X Dancing Flamingo and Neon Flamingo also very pretty!
