Hey slacker millennials: you do you and I’ll give you a wide berth 😎

This article presents millenials as boring and full of excuses.

I couldn't bring myself to continue much past turning off all the tracking cookies.

Ha - I recognized myself in several of those - like having mismatched flatware 😁

But I make my bed daily - mainly to keep dust, etc. out of it. And what about sleep hygiene? I do not hang out in or on my unmade bed for anything but reading or sleeping.

And a definite NO to cats on kitchen counters or any food-related surfaces - we have no pets any more anyway, so that's actually moot.

We let weeds grow in our yard. No pesticides for us and we conserve water with a natural yard. At first we were the outliers but more and more people in our neighborhood are foregoing the carpetlike lawn.

    I stopped reading after that.

I keep my house tidy for ME - not for some guest that might drop by - it makes ME feel good.

I have a large garden because I like having it - it's not for anyone else - the nicest planters/containers are in my back yard - which no one else can see (except my SO and my family when they come over).

I make my bed because it only takes a couple minutes - and I like getting into a bed that has been made.

I feel like many of the comments were excuses to just not do anything but binge Netflix! However, I didn't get very far down the list.

Those comments sounded like something my RENTERS would say!

I like mismatched furniture that looks collected and comfortable. When my salad plates were "gone"...I purchased another brand that looked like a potter just made them. I have a poster from Honduras of the resort we stayed at, as my framed artwork. A photo of an owl my DH took/photography. These things I agree with. :0)

I don't have lawn at THIS house. I'm required to mow buffalo grass, it's native, to not exceed 8"...because of fire danger. We could lose insurance coverage if the place isn't mowed.

Guess I'm just too Type A to let things look crappy! But...without trying...I do like a few of the things mentioned.

@dani_m08, I like the Navy SEALS philosophy of making your bed: “if you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day and it will give you a sense of pride” - from a speech given by Admiral William McRaven at the University of Texas.

I couldn't get through the full list after I realized the advertisements were playing audio and I couldn't stop them.

Some of the sentiments resonate, especially around reduction of formality. Having everday dishes vs formal entertaining dishes. Dining rooms that are less formal, etc. I also fully support the idea of native planting and not needing yards to be pristinely manicured and groomed vs more natural / native.

Other statements seemed unsurprising, but far from my own preference. While many people I know don't bother to keep their homes tidy or beds made, I certainly do. I couldn't imagine teaching my children it's ok to draw on walls. And while I understand why people do, I will not be letting pets on my furniture. I love my dog dearly but I don't want the oil in her coat or her hair or her nails to wear or dirty my furniture. And I have some close friends / family that I do allow to bring their pets into my home and it's always a bit difficult trying to keep their dogs off of my furniture when they've been trained at home that it's ok.

I did smirk a bit at the item around preferring hard floors. For a little while my Gen Z niece came to stay with my husband and I in our old house. The house had a significant amount of carpet and it would have been extremely costly to replace. She made some snarky comment about how she really preferred to have hard floors throughout. She seemed so out of touch with the reality of buying a previously owned home and the cost to do renovations. I think many of us have "preferences" when it comes to flooring, countertops, cabinetry, etc. But at least in my area, the reality is that you will rarely be able to find a house that perfectly meets every single thing on your list. And while we all may want to do renovations, the cost can truly be prohibitive.

About audio....I keep the sound off at all times unless I actually want to listen to something.)

I keep audio off, too. And, one of the delights of my tablet on pages like that is the Reader view option. Just the text and accompanying images, no ads, no banners.

People had interesting attitudes, not just about what practices they eschew, but the attitudes about doing so. The “f- that“. Like they’re angry? And ”I do this for me, not for you.” Um, okay, thanks for telling me?
